Saab 9-3 for sale - £350

Anyone fancy my 9-3?  I'm not really using it any more so it might as well go to someone who will.

It's a 54-plate Vector Sport with the 1.9 16 valve Fiat JTD engine in 150bhp form, with a 6-speed manual 'box, so it goes well.  It averages about 50mpg, so not bad for the performance, although not quite as good as the earlier 8-valve version of the same engine in the Alfa.

It has all the bits that a "modern" compact executive car should have - cruise control, climate control, half leather seats, Xenon lights, parking sensors etc.  The parking sensors are temperamental mind, and the driver's door window doesn't work.  Also the offside rear door doesn't always work on the central locking.

It's done 188K so isn't in the first flush of youth, but still starts first time, pulls like a fugging train (actually made the Rover of Doom feel sluggish when I took it for a blat the other day after running around in the Saab, although to be fair the Rover's fuelling is turned right down at the moment) and the gears all work, although I find the shift a bit notchy.  When I first bought it it used to go into limp mode quite frequently, but since I cleaned the throttle body butterfly it's been fine.  There's a few rattles and buzzes from trim and under the bonnet, and there's an occasional rattle which sounds like it could be the DMF starting to get tired - normally when sitting in traffic with the engine hot.  It's nowhere near as bad as the Mondeo's was though, and I drove that daily for a year with no issues, so I think it's got some life in it yet.

MOT is up at the end of next month - I can't see it needing a huge amount (handbrake sometimes sticks on a bit though - my fault as I don't normally use it, living as I do in a particularly flat part of the country).  It has get you home tax on it as well.  There's some history (which as somebody rightly pointed out in another thread is all you really need), according to which it had a cambelt at 145K.  The cambelt cover is missing for some reason, which has at least enabled me to ascertain that the belt still looks in reasonable shape.

Apologies for number plate obfuscation - the photos were intended for Gumtree.  (I know some people laugh at those who blank out registrations, but I've had plates stolen in the past and I know what an utter shitstorm it causes.)

Car is in NE Norfolk, as per.

A1 seller, just ask for a drive of the CX while you're at it. GLWS

I sometimes hope my car explodes so I can find the excuse to buy something like this. £350 is great value. You'd easily get double that on Bumtree but then you'd have to contend with an array of extremely unlikeable people coming round.

That would suit me down to the ground for daily duty...Which flat part are you in?  Them Thar Fens?

Edit. NE Norfolk... Just read to the end.

I'm expressing formal interest in this.

I bought a 1.8t pez one of these from Vantman of this parish and it has proven to be a comfortable, capable cruiser. As Wuvvum says they have all the toys you could want and are a much more discerning choice than a similar-age A4 or 3-series (IMHO).

The lock issue seems to be pretty common, whoever buys it PM me and I can send a link to a video of how to fix it really easily if it bothers you.

GLWTS etc etc. These are lovely cars.

my mate had a Vectra with the same engine and I remember him doing the DMF on that and saying it was a total ache, but I'm still drawn to it.

Also very interested and in that neck of the woods this week.

Would like to come round and have a look.

Have tried to message you, but saying not accepting PM's ??

Could you pm me with contact details and reg number to check out Insurance not history

Thanks

Dave

Aye, they're not supposed to be the easiest, although not apparently as much of an arseache as a Mk3 Mondeo.

Golly, that's a lot of car for really not much money.

Also, speaking as a previous WuvCraft customer, +++ A1 TOP SELLER RECOMMENDED +++ etc.

Wuz is a top bloke, scrupulously honest in his description and helpful in collection arrangements.

If I wasn't already over Saabed, and hate derv, I'd be interested.

Coincidentally , I put the Pintara back on the road this week. Still going well, mate!

Unfortunately, this one won't be the one for me :(.

DMF costs have put pay to my dreams of executive goodness.

I still think this is a spanktastic bargain looking at the pics, but for me at least, it ain't meant to be.

Best of luck with the sale fella.

I wish this had been for sale when my XM died. I was in Norfolk last week too!

Had one of these, same engine too - written off so didn't get to live with it for more than 18months. Mega tempted...

Bargain too.

I'm almost hoping my car dies tomorrow so I can have this off you. Seems a lot of car for the money and once through the next mot is almost free motoring. I'm surprised it's not gone already.
