I decided to change my previous winning* formula of just buying cars & for the first time in about 9 years actually advertised one of my vehicles for sale... the Series 2a Land Rover is now officially in the departure lounge.

(the MX-5 doesn't count, that belonged to the ex miss_F)

Here it is resplendent in its snazzy NATO paint:

I did my invoices 3 whole days before the end of the month, the accounts woman at one customer sent me an amusing* email , asking if I realised what the date was, because I usually send it on about the 2nd of the next month then phone up begging for payment on the 4th.

Also browsed Autotrader,Xhamster and Retrorides - Vulgalour was on one of them, can't remember which one though.

Went on the blue forum for a while.

Found a phase 1 V70 AWD that keeps breaking down.

I want it.

Found a 'buyer' for the Laguna who then disappeared. Took a deposit on another car, didn't drive the MX5 (been cycling to work) chain came off my bike, got it mended then nearly got wiped out by a Parcel Force lorry, an old bat in a Toyota and a nurse in a Focus. Still haven't picked the BSA up.

Today I shall be trying to show a fellow shiter's missus just how bad things could be by turning up to meet them in a Mk1 Laguna with bonnet pins.

In preparation for our trip out to Bulgaria next week I've been perusing the local motors for sale

Is there much of a market for lhd 2.3 diesel 3dr Sierras in the UK?........

I joined my new squadron yesterday and none of the big boys beat me up or took my lunch money.

Looking at it, the new aircraft I'm on is a damn sight cleaner and a lot more modern, some would even say engineer-friendly.

Still miss my old analogue clunky cabs though...

Begun sorting the white 605 diesel for sale.

Sold some wheels.

Tried and failed to buy a pushbike off eBay.

Took my Piazza around Rockingham and got lapped.

With the mot due in a couple of weeks, I set about fixing the rear brakes on the audi :(

problemo numero uno was a very stuck slider pin, the reverse of this disc was all bright and shiney but the front obviously hadn't been doing much work recently (this does around 2-300 miles a week, believe it or not)

post-4462-0-74654600-1467200758_thumb.jpeg

eventually it was persuaded free, cleaned up and re-greased and the new disc and pads fitted - only one hour so far, not too bad I suppose.

side 2 was even worse, another stuck slider pin but this time it needed some serious brute force to shift it, meaning it's sliding days were over. not to worry, it's a modern vag, a quick call to europarts should see this sorted. ffs they only come in a set of four and they were asking £35 for it. ok google, what's the number for the local audi dealers ? fffffs they want over a ton and a half for a new caliper mount !

plan c - a run down to the local breakers (where I should have gone first of all really) only one minor snag, the audi is now immobile on axle stands, blocking me getting the mazda out of the garage. I stuck enough of it back together to gently move it off the drive using half a handbrake and rescued the trusty mx5. less than an hour later, I was on my way back from the breakers, a set of four sliders in my pocket for the bargainous sum of four earth pounds :)

with the right bits I got the job finished just in time to go to the pub and watch some rubbish football (I don't really like football but I do like beer, a lot)

top marks to the breakers in bonnybridge, for having the right bits available, for charging very reasonable prices and for generally being a bunch of nice friendly blokes :) plenty of shite in their yard too, photies next time I visit

I pressed 'refresh' a lot. Then tried .info then autoshite999. Nothing. Waited a while and did it again. Nothing. Did a bit of gardening, took the dog a walk and faffed about with the cars. Life was feeling empty so tried again. Still nothing so emailed Dave/Mike. All became clear... Hello again! Nice to have you back.

I worried about the fact that a traveller is trying to defraud me of £1875 and I've had to get the police involved. Then I worried about my recently acquired 14 plate Focus being back at the dealers for the last 6 weeks with an engine problem they can't fix. Then I got pissed and didn't worry as much.

A friend put in a lot of work making a nice whelping box for their working cocker she had her first pup in it, but was scared of the pup when it squealed and ran away from it. She couldn't be coaxed back into the box so they had to take the pup to her, where she had hidden behind the sofa. She was fine with the pup there and proceded to have the rest of the litter behind the sofa on the carpet. Everytime they put anything down for her she moved off it and onto the carpet.

Thanks for that, being she's a typical working Cocker and bloody minded with it, that may well be the state of play here.

Luckily she can't get to our living room which has just been nicely recarpeted at great expense...she likes hiding under our bed but SWMBO is going to block that off.

3 to 4 weeks to go, and we're worried to buggery for her cos she's such a lovely little scamp.
