My Xantia HDi - Minor Electrical Question!

Recommended Posts

I coss and swear at my xantia but as you say it just eats up miles and keeps going. It can upset a lot of cars as it doesn't hang around. Yes I will also admit them trims are horrid. I never liked them and that's why they went! Airbag light is a common item on my dash. Along with the battery light and handbrake light not working at all.

FFS.

Airbag light is back on, and cleaning the contacts under the seats hasn't sorted it this time.

Also, how the fuck do you get the driver's door card off? The mirror is rattly and the electric window doesn't seem quite 'right', so I'd like to have a good look around inside there.

£6 per ticket, or 3 for £16...

No guarantees, but I have a code reader which might be able to switch it off.

I do not know how to take the door card off.

Not done a xantia but I'd guess at hidden torx screws in the armrest/handle somewhere, possibly also in/around the handle, and the rest held on with trim clips that come off with a sharp pull.

Clip survival rate approx 50%.

I'll have a look in my hbol for you. Should be same as earlier one I'd have thought?

Should be. Apart from taking the locking button off its not too complicated.

Ever thought about a set of cheapo trims and attaching something aero to them?

*EDIT*

I do keep wafting 2.5 V6 Mk3 Mondeos under his nose that are around £500. I should stop doing that...

Were none of the 20000000 HBOLs going around Shitefest for the Xantia?

I gave bub a pug 306 one i think, it might help

Does anybody want this at £6 per ticket then?

I fancy something a bit quicker, perhaps a 6-pot again, but with a manual box (the dimwitted auto on the Omega drove me mental!)

I'll try to have a look at the door card and the airbag light before it goes.

Basic info, it's got just a smidge over 80k miles on it, MOT until April 2017, two brand new wipers on the front (as the left one fell apart today on the A90), the oil, oil filter, air filter, and all 4 tyres are under 2,000 miles old.

For extra amusement, I'll list the contents of the boot:

- Five wheel trims (I took four off, and was provided with a spare)

- A driver's window regulator

- Two spare door speakers

- An entire passenger door mirror assembly

- Two mirror caps. One in the right colour but cracked, and one in good condition but green.

- A driver's side mirror glass

- Various ratchet straps

- A heavy-duty screw-in towing eye

- A car cover (REALLY?!)

Keep the towing eye, bin the rest...................................

Stick me down for a couple of randoms. I can feel a change of job coming on and I might need a daily.

I can also help with logistics if a soft southerner wins it.

I used to have a 1.9 diesel xantia and while I don't have the car anymore, I do have the Haynes manual somewhere if needed.
