garbaldy Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 There doesn't seem to be much love for this on here is there?. Anybody want to make a offer on it as the insurance and and tax is about to run out and i could do with it out of the way. I'd trust it to drive anywhere in comfit and without issue. I would love to take this of your hands but since my job and home is up in the air it wouldn't be a wise move.I am supposed to be slimming down but I do appear to have gained two more, trigger 1
trigger Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 I never realised these were commanding that strong a price these days So £650 is expensive for a good, usable car with years mot these days is it?. Jesus. Richard, 500tops, Skizzer and 4 others 7
garbaldy Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 So £650 is expensive for a good, usable car with years mot these days is it?. Jesus.Nope it's not but then I like Audi's so may be a bit biased.
flat4alfa Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 It is on this board. Coz pikey I always wanted one of these 5-pot 90s. Believe me I went out looking for one c.1996 but they were scarce even then. I'm knocking on the door of your manor on at the w/e as staying for a week on the coast with wife and bubba. Am milling it over. trigger 1
trigger Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 I'd you want to take a look give me a shout. You wouldn't be disappointed.
Skizzer Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 So £650 is expensive for a good, usable car with years mot these days is it?. Jesus. I feel your pain Trig and personally I think that's properly cheap for a sorted, useable, attractive motor with an iconic engine. I suspect this place just isn't the most promising source of buyers. There's a B3 Audi 80 1.8S (carb four banger) on CarAndClassic at the moment for £2k with poor pics, negligible description and less than 3 months' MOT. With your photo skills and good prose your 90 should look like a decent proposition on there at a reassuringly robust £1250, even if you end up getting haggled down a bit. I'd have it off you but I've already got a B3. Soz. oldcars, The Moog, trigger and 1 other 4
trigger Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 That's ok mate, it just gets my back up a bit when such skin flids start going on about how expensive a £650 car is. I'm already losing enough money on it as it is. I'd sooner just stick it in a barn somewhere then sell it any cheaper though.
Volksy Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 It's a mega car for the cash. I do wish I had the cash to buy the car. trigger 1
stripped fred Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 I think it's very fairly priced. Why not try car & classics as suggested above? Someone out there will want it and will probably pay a bit more. You do have quite a limited audience on here. trigger 1
trigger Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 I've only tried on here and Facebook at the moment as i haven't had much spare time and i had been using it still whilst i wait for the Astra to be sorted but the insurance has ran out now so its time to go, I'll probably get it on Ebay for the weekend. I've got a lad who seems mega keen but he's in the Orkneys! He's trrying to get a price to get it collected so I'll see how that goes, he was talking about driving it back!
trigger Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 He can get the train down but its £158 and i don't know if I'd like to drive this 750 miles?! Isaac Hunt 1
trigger Posted May 27, 2016 Author Posted May 27, 2016 Well it's ridiculous, the way i read it, and I'm sure I'm not alone here with thinking this is that your making out it's overpriced so yes, you could say it got my back up somewhat so how do you expect me to respond?
HillmanImp Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 To be fair to Chompy, these were struggling to fetch over £300 in any condition just a few years back. I read it that he was just saying that he hadn't realised Audis of this era had gone up in value that much. TBH, I hadn't either until recently when I looked at coupes. A few years ago I get my 2.6 Coupe for £500 which is mental considering the condition of it etc, Iwould be lucky to get one of twice that now.
HillmanImp Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 However he maybe should've realised their time had come and they had rocketed in value as I sold mine and had therefore suddeny become cool and valuable......
garbaldy Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I've been trying to stick cars onto friends since this became available but it's not easy trying to shift motors in a hurry.
Jim Bell Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I think the market decides value. If it's well priced it sells. If it's overpriced, it doesn't. I don't think that it's a ridiculous price by any means. I bet it'd sell on ebay or carandclassic easy enough. Though it seems to be a trend, there's absolutely no point in arguing value in a for sale thread. If you like it, offer what you want to pay. If not, move on. drum, stripped fred and Honey Badger 3
cort16 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I've been trying to stick cars onto friends since this became available but it's not easy trying to shift motors in a hurry. I wish I could sell one of my shite heaps so I could buy your Sierra. Buyers chain.
dollywobbler Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 To be fair to Trigger, there's nowt more annoying than trying to arrive at a value for a car you're selling, a pretty reasonable one in this case, only for someone to chime in that they're surprised by the high asking price. However the comment was intended, it reads like "you're asking too much!" When I saw the comment (and having missed the price) I'd assumed Trig was asking a grand for it, not an entirely reasonable £650! So I can understand why his response may not have been entirely diplomatic. As WW says though, the value is what the market decides it is, so not much point arguing about it. stripped fred Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I think Chompy is actually saying he thinks the car is worth the money if you read the last but perhaps could have worded it better. To summarise, I think you both agree! Like others have said though the market determines the price and a bigger market, such as car and classic or even the dreaded ebay, might be a better bet for a car like this. Good luck anyway. You've certainly sorted out most of it's problems so someone is going to get a proper bargain. Am tempted myself to be honest but too much on and too many cars etc etc
Cavcraft Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I don't even like those cars but that asking price is actually a massive bargain. I'd see that at £1195-£1395 all day long and see what you get offered.Appreciate you need a quick sale though and hopefully it won't be there long mrbenn, oldcars and trigger 3
Jim Bell Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Snap his hand off at the low end of his offer Trigger!
Brodders Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 As the others have commented, if you pop it onto Car & Classic or another website, you will almost certainly get more than what you are asking for it here (by a few hundred if you are willing to try). That is if you don't mind the hassle of course. I can completely understand if you have reservations about doing it if you have ever received countless messages asking for your best offer on a very reasonably priced car by the Bumtree Brigade. But if not, it is worth a shot. trigger 1
johngarty Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Im just intrigued to see if the car ends up in a barn or up someone's poor bottom. trigger, JohnK, andrew e and 2 others 5
Alexg Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 These should be worth more than that. Looks a corking retro daily for the money. I bet the market properly kicks off for these soon and a car like yours will be the thick part of £2k before we know it. If you've got the space and don't need the coin just hold it for a couple of years.
trigger Posted May 27, 2016 Author Posted May 27, 2016 I think that's why the comment got my back up as I've spent a bit on it but with the exhaust tick i think it wouldn't be a quick sale so I've dropped the price to a loss just to move it on. I've uploaded a video of it onto YouTube. It's not perfect (especially with that exhaust tick) but it's no shitbox either. https://youtu.be/hptHF7C0P1U oldcars, Cavcraft and smellypoo 3
Guest Hooli Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Looks a bargain, swap for a goona? Back to the barn pics, not seen a bodykitted onion for about 127years. Very 90's chav & retro
