These guys have a pretty bad rep for shill bidding to be fair.

I've seen stuff from them before. Basically I think they get a lot of part-ex's from main dealers + garages (possibly even connected to one) and just dispose of them cheaply.

So they get stuff that is fucked, but also get stuff that might be decent. Take it like you would a car auction house.

IIRC if you buy from a trade seller in an Auction format, even on eBay, Sale of Good Act does not apply.

BTW, get a more modern OS!

Using XP nowadays is like driving in Bolivia on a 1930s British motorbike. You're very likely to be injured doing so!

They've been selling stuff for some time. High volume, seems to be a lot from the various bca auction houses. They used to be just carswithnoreserve, the cars would be photographed before they'd even left the auction compound. I think I might have been on the back of a photo or two from the Blackbushe auctions.

Yeah, I'm sure that's where Testes went, and he reckoned they were perfectly fine.

Their adverts always sound a bit terse, but I suppose dealing with ebay users every day will either make you grumpy, or insane.

Agree with others looks a high volume outlet where they don't care about negative feedback - no responses from them to the negs. Small margins and get them out the door?

Still under what it's worth at the moment but then all of the bidding is done in the last 20 seconds

This is Autoshite, where everything was better in the past, therefor he should ideally be browsing with Netscape Navigator on Windows 95 running on a huge, wheezing, beige desktop unit and a 14" crt.

Usually it is, although when I placed a bid on a metal-lite Mk1 MR2 many moons ago feeling confident I'd be outbid anyway, I found myself staring at the car in question a few days later thinking 'fuck you eBay'.

They unashamedly shill. When I bought my 159 from them they were quite happy to tell me they bid the car up to the minimum they'll take and let the auction go from there. They also "encouraged" me to cancel the transaction with eBay to avoid them having to pay the fees.

Nice guys though, and absolutely true to their word about the no-obligation test drive.

Fair enough, gotta earn a living etc.

Not quite in the spirit of things though!

I bought my 45 V6 off these boys and they were sound as a pound. They sold it to me for the same price they'd given on it in P/ex, came to meet me specially late on one evening, and handed me the keys saying 'take it for a spin, make sure you're happy with it' before I paid when I went to pick it up. They asked if I would agree to cancel the transaction, of course I said yes.

That's fine, it's just that it's probably working for someone else too.

No arguments against being cheap, but no excuses for being so vulnerable.  Get Ubuntu or Linux Mint or something on there.  What if someone used your eBay account to buy a Fiat Panda or something?

Edit: This sounds like I'm more bothered than I am, but it is the computer equivalent of using wooden brake pads 'cause no one makes parts for it anymore, and not being bothered cause you don't mind bumping into people and you wouldn't even notice if you were doing..

Corrected that for you.

I've got an old Laptop with XP on it - I've set it up with dual boot ubunto (linux) If I want to use the internets - Linux if I want to use Microsoft office or non on line stuff I still use XP - no issue with that

XP is still a very useful and functional operating system - just not as safe as it once was on the internet.

I'm pretty sure that there is one version of Linux which has a very similar look and feel to XP but I prefer a difference.......

XP has always been a buggy, insecure pile of donkey shit, think of it as a Megane II - a disaster new and used. It was so bad they pretty much re wrote it in Service Pack 2. I can wholeheartedly say this from supporting for 10+ years, from paid and unpaid viewpoints. Microsoft owes me at least £1,000,000 for the number of weekends I had to spend fixing that dross for family and friends gratis. Thankfully since they all binned proper computers and bought Android/iOS toys, I've had lovely, lovely peace. Even with all the shite apps they install. Good riddance to bad rubbish!
