Rocket88 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I look forward to epic tales of rust fixerating, along with constant visits to pez stations............. Junkman 1
NorfolkNWeigh Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 That looks great, my first Disco was a V8 3 door and was the best LR I've ever owned. It did 20 mpg with Mrs N day to day or 25mpg when towing! I suppose I drove smoother and slower with an overloaded caravan and 4 screaming kids in the back.Petrol's often have less rust because they're less likely to have spent their lives coated in mud and shit.
Guest Hooli Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Excellent shed, I had a H plate 200tdi years ago & it spent it's life covered in mud.
mouseflakes Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Noice! I like the look of these early ones but not the view through the rear floor. michael1703, scruff and garethj 3
John F Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Do you have a welder? If not, I suspect you soon will have More pics please, I love Discos.
HMC Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Lovely! These pre facelift jobbies, Freight rover front lights et al are a rare sight these days. Love the colour and spec. When did they stop offering the 3 dr?
barmatt Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Oooh, I' like early Discos (I've had 4 ) and this has the correct number of doors. If it is a keeper and you're doing lots of miles these early v8's are reasonably* cheap to LPG. Welcome btw. For Fiats Sake 1
scruff Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 When did they stop offering the 3 dr? Right till the end - 98/99. One of the mags has one on a W plate.
andy18s Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Nice.My 1st Disco was a G reg 3.5v8 on carbs, wrapped in a black 3dr body12 to 20mpg was the norm, depending on how quickly you decided to run up and down the Welsh hillsideSkizzer (Martin) bought my last one, a late 300 series with the 3.9 on lpg Skizzer 1
egg Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 great colour. 3.5 or 3.9 V8? I always remember Car magazine banging on about the Terence Conran interior!
Guest Lord Sward Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Nice.My 1st Disco was a G reg 3.5v8 on carbs, wrapped in a black 3dr body12 to 20mpg was the norm, depending on how quickly you decided to run up and down the Welsh hillside Mine was Foxfire Red.
Skizzer Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Quality motor! Skizzer (Martin) bought my last one, a late 300 series with the 3.9 on lpgIndeed I did, and my better half loves it so much that I'm in deep doo-doo for contemplating parting with it (see Espace thread for details). I like it a lot too, in all fairness. And it has NO RUST in the boot floor. Chew on that, you doubting Thomases DodgyBastard and andy18s 2
scruff Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Good progressYou can get pre-facelift 200 shape 3.9s, usually with an auto or LT77. There is one going back to nature in my friend's yard on an L reg.
gdhaydock Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 There are only about 6 variations on the disco locking nut key. It will be stamped with a letter on the end where the wheel brace goes - this is the identifier and replacements are readily available from landy places without having to jump through hoops.

Liggle Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I drove my neighbours 1990 V8 Manual when I was 18... it was awesome ... but slow, I remember it topping out about 85/90, is that normal?
Guest Hooli Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 I drove my neighbours 1990 V8 Manual when I was 18... it was awesome ... but slow, I remember it topping out about 85/90, is that normal? 91 was the quoted top end for my 200tdi. That's exactly what it did too.
320touring Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Junkman getting schooled this week! P38 ftw Junkman 1
Kiltox Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Does it not hurt having to carry those steel testicles around? Coprolalia, The Moog and beko1987 3
Kiltox Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Black electrical tape is a thing you know privatewire 1
Fat_Pirate Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I reckon turbo seals. My Mrs has one of these and loves it, though the turbo did blow in spectacular fashion after going from no smoke, a bit of smoke, to ALL THE SMOKE in less than 15 minutes. I understand the 'little' turbo (150BHP, no boost guage) is the least reliable.
twosmoke300 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Ive got an aero turbo here with a brand new uk made core and the coolant/ oil pipes that I am looking to sell !
