Renner Espace for sale!

Hello and welcome to the sale of this stunning Renault Espace 2.0 pez manual

I've owned it for a total of 5 minutes and have pretty much decided that it's not for me as I find the driving position awkward and the pedals seem quite close together.

Initially I had visions of some kind of camper but it doesn't offer much more space than an estate car. It has mot until October so if there's no interest I'd be as well insuring it and trying to get used to driving it.

I think it's had a recent respray, the paint is fair but there's orange peel in parts, the clutch pedal is quite stiff, I don't know if it's just the cable that needs replaced or something else. The radio doesn't seem to work and the fuel gauge sometimes has a mind of its own. The bonnet release cable has broken but there's a cable hanging out of the grille which enables opening of the bonnet.

I've had a quick look underneath on the ramp and there's no rust anywhere, the underside of the engine and gearbox is quite oily so that might have something to do with the lack of rust. It starts and drives well enough, I've had it going up and down the road and have no driving issues to report.

The car is located in Cowdenbeath/Dunfermline, there's probably a few things I've missed so questions are welcome. I will go along later and take some more photos.

I would like £700 for it but open to offers or swaps

That is lovely! I'd love one of these at some point, looks fairly tidy. Were these built by matra?

My dad had one as company car. We took it camping every year to France, was a great bus.

I posted this in the tat thread last week. Looks even better here. Glws.

That is fucking lovely, shame it's not an auto but someone is going to get a piece of automotive history there, is it not one of the first People Carriers?

Sort of, but iirc the Spaz was an initial sales flop. Meanwhile, Chrysler launched the Town n Country over the pond and was one of Iacocca's cards in turning around the pentastar's fortunes

Does anyone know the Craptical plastics connection?

Was owned by Danny Hopkins I believe. I quite fancied it myself, but as ever, not enough money.

They're great, mine was a superb van with all the seats out. Do you want a handbook for it?

is it in actual grey primer colour? (I can see its not matt like)

I think this will be my saviour of transport to Carlisle if this fucking Cortina doesn't meet expectations.

Would this rapidly decorate one's driveway in a spirally Mandelbrot pattern of black oily death horror overnight?

I don't think so, it's oily underneath but I couldn't see any dripping when up on the ramp.

Just hypothetically, would you be interested in a swap for a Discovery 1 V8? Non-functioning LPG but otherwise good.

Needs me to get around to MOTing it first, mind.

Oh bugger!

Will need to get permission from the Mrs and also figure out when I'm going to be within 200 miles of the fecker to MOT it.

Have had beers. Decision making capabilities may* be slightly impaired.

Go for it Skizzer. This will fit nicely into the collection alongside the 16. Late plate madness on the Disco, never seen a Mk1 on a T before.

Feck, I think my hypothetical enquiry has grown legs and started running round the building on its own. I'll see what Mrs S says in the morning.

I'll have some of what your drinking!

Mostly Adnam's Ghost Ship IPA - from up your way somewhere Trig, no?

Worst of it is, this was supposed to be a quiet one. Wednesday I'm out with Breadman, from which I'll be very lucky to escape without having bought half a Saab 900 off Gumtree.

I'm so dead when I see the missus on Friday.

Good call, Soutwolds finest, I've done some silly things on that stuff too. I fully recommend Broadside if you ever get the chance.

Don't think I'm doing anything Thursday if you need a spare driver.
