Have checked brakes can’t see anything inherently wrong, it’ll be right. Will get it into the garage when we get back. 

MOT was June and didn’t flag anything, I asked them to check wheel bearings too as thought I could hear a whine, turned out one of the calipers had been seizing on.

That got replaced though as part of the work so not sure on the juddering.

Don’t laugh at me, but make sure you’re not leaving it in sixth when reaching lower speeds from motorway to 20-30, it’s happy in 4/5th at 30 but 6th labours it.

Hope you get it sorted and the stuff on the door just turns out to be hedgehog or badger guts. 👍

That's a relief - we went past an Espace on a 57 plate yesterday that was broken down on the hard shoulder, M4 Eastbound just before the Prince of Wales' bridge with a bemused looking bloke stood by it on his phone.
Went passed in a flash and I did wonder "Is that Mr CPJ?" - now we're down here in Devon and I have some time to myself I see that it was not you as (1) wrong year car (2) that one was a sliver/blue colour (3) you are plainly much more handsome than that other guy.

Ahhh thanks for looking out, I think bearings just starting so should be fine until we get home! Got AutoAid if all else fails  

I have AS sticker on my car as well

Ahh I wouldn’t worry about it’ll be right! I’ll get it home - I’ve driven worse home at much longer Distances haha!

We saw one other Espace ages with yours too around Newport  - bloody weird, never seem to see any and then they appear in tribes.
Also a big bum Megan and a VelSatis all within 20 miles.

It says something about autoshiters attitude to motoring that the wheel bearing is shagged and it’s considered flawless*
 

Same applies to my Skoda as I’ve noticed the bump stops on the rear have turned to dust and bits of metal are banging about into each other but I’m loving it.

Edit to add,

Maybe limit cruising speed to 70-75 until sorted, instead of what it is capable of doing when no rozzers are looking… 🏎️

It’s great! The rest of the car drives so well! Thing is as well, I’m prepared to spend quite a lot on it - comfiest car we’ve had for all of us! So defo worth the spend - if it can wait til I get home

Doing very well on Diesel, just under 400 miles - 3/4 of a tank still remains. 
 

According to computer I’m averaging about 42MPG, I always take a couple off so probs about 39-40 MPG.

Love this machine it’s eating up the miles nicely (excluding wheel bearing issue of course) but heading back up towards home tomorrow!

Wheel bearing droning but only at high speed so don’t think it’s gonna cause any major issues and should get home fine!

Update: Wheel bearings have been ordered / paid for £140 for 2.

Looks like both fronts are in failure mode, being fitted Friday. Hopefully not too much of an arse to do!

Will see if the ABS sensor plays ball and see if it comes out, if not that'll need replacing as well both sides.. those are £77 each.

Trips coming up: Luton (Next week) 6h 15 minute round trip so long as there's no delays etc.

Paris: Next year - Visiting Disneyland Paris with the kids but may also travel to the South of France as well - see what happens.

Filey in a few weeks time for a Kite Festival the kids want to see.

Darlington, probably 3-4 times between now and Xmas

 

So there's some mileage planned for the Mothership :).

Glad it’s running so well, wheel bearings aside.

I could never fault it for eating the miles on long runs, I was just gonna end up killing it on the shorter journeys and for the longer ones, the extra mpg of the skoda is a bonus. (55 versus my average 38)

Bearings where affectionately described as .. F***ed (garage speak for knackered) one of the bearings took a 22 ton press to get it out and the other 18 ton. But, no more drag or whining... feels and sounds like a different car!

Interesting, I’d asked my Renault specialist about the bearings before because I thought I could hear a slight wub wub wub as far back as a couple of years but they confidently declared ‘non’ when I asked two years on the bounce so I assumed it was just a Frenchism. They hadn’t started pissing hub juice until you got it though.

Does it feel any better to drive and any improvement on mpgs or purely just a noise free thing?

Never felt any wobbles when driving which is why I was convinced by them that it was me and not the car that was at fault.
