The lads clearly found it or at least knew it's whereabouts or there wouldn't be any pictures of it to post on faceache.

He probably just rang the scrappers to take it away.

seems a shame as it doesn't look that bad, and its another maxi lost.....

hopefully the maxi owners will be able to strip to of all useful bits so maybe some other cars will benefit from it.

More likely the local authority screamed 'health and safety' and 'envrionmental destruction' and had it taken away before he had chance to recover

The famous maxi of much overspray and big letters is seemingly still alive and on eBay. (Or a car with that reg no anyway...)

Is that the f

formerly bright blue 'spastomaxi'? (Macdroitwich terminology)

The underbonnet shot on the eBay listing does show what looks like a lot of blue overspray on the inner wings. Rest of the paint job is puzzling though. Possibly blown over in bronze then harvest gold panels added by the look of it?

Posted

I wonder if someone recently had their bronze Maxi half inched?

Posted

Even gold paint in the door shuts - would you go to those lengths for a maxi?

A bit lavender...

Now with added tow bar, vinyl roof and window stickers, all of which look like they have been fitted for years too...

And metal/rubber side trims.

Hundreds of giveways (apart from all that effort that never would happen to Spastomaxi) is the rear inner wing colour

The other giveaway is the seller's fixation on the plate value-ability. So what does he know then?  ID swap bingo

So it's a given that Spasto is long gone and ovaled.

But this is the right colour?

How hard is it to swap body panels on a Maxi? Like Conrad's P6?

Or a cut and shut?

Posted

I just can't see it myself, even the insides of the C posts are bronze, I'd put money on that being a ring-a-ding.

Love the battery fixings......

perhaps the Blue was emulsion?????

Posted

SiC is right though, thinking back to my Maxi, even the outer front wings were welded on.  So to keep the authentic* inner front wing overspray from Spasto then the whole front from bulkhead forward has to be cut and shut home.

Odds-on it will be relisted after he sets his dogs on the winner.

Then we can pop round and investigate

(Sorry... I read the last line and I just couldn't help myself)

Whatever it was it got on to the tyres.

Consider also it seems like the wheels were replaced if it was to be the same car as the spaz chariot has black painted ones.

Ringing £500 cars... what’s that all about. It’s hardly worth it for the agg. That said the police won’t be interested in low level stuff like this, they’re too busy catching murderers lol.

Posted

Why is it a ringer? If the plate is transferable it's probably just been transferred on to this car, which happens to be the same model as it was previously on. There is literally no point in ringing a car of such low value

Why would they do that? Especially to then let the car go for such a low price... the plate's probably worth more than the car (to some hipster chump, anyway).

There's no doubt it's a different car. No rear window demister on the bronze one, plus some tiny dings on SpastoMaxi are missing on the bronze one.

This is mysterious enough for me to post a badly-rendered picture of a raccoon on a jetski.
