BX dizzler estate

Took this in as a part ex from WWx2 yesterday on the Sierra. I was going to run it around for a few weeks then decide what to do with it but another impending estate as a part ex for something else is a distinct possibility which I would rather go with.

E reg 1.9 RD estate - non turbo so it's no rocket ship but the engine runs really well - I've done about 70 miles in it since last night and it's solid enough.

Suspension goes up and down, interiors not bad, exterior a bit tatty (some rust, poorly sprayed wing)but that's part of the appeal I reckon.

MOT'd until next month. Comes with a boot full of BX spares.

I would like to see £200 for it if anybody is interested?

Here's a Gumtree-esque picture for your enjoyment - will get some more in the next hour or so.

How much????

MEGABARG for this famous forum car.

It's not fast, but I remember driving it fondly, you just get it up to speed and carry the momentum, it is chuckable on country lanes and has rather good brakes.

I think it's wearing wider rubber these days too, so you can probably chuck it around even more. Combat the lack of power by simply never slowing down. Great fun! Almost tempted to have it back at that price.

I thought the idea of an AS bike was that as many Shiters as possible got a go?  Having said that, we do know of one or two cars that seem to be going round in circles so perhaps I'll just shut up...

I really want this and yet I already have one.

That does look like great value and I don't even like them that much.

Guisborough, but the car will be stored at New Marske by the end of the day

I don't NEED anything.

Just like I didn't NEED a BX in part exchange for a Sierra, but look what happened !

That poor BX is changing hands so often now its V5 should just state "to whom it may concern"

Foreign parts, I had to look that up! 211 miles from me.

'New Marske' sounds like a shipping company container.

£200 is mega cheap for one of these.

Round and round the BX goes.

Where it stops, nobody knows.

As long as it isn't at me again.

Any potential issues for it's next MOT? told the old man about it and he's keen.

Perhaps Hairnet could drive you there in his Visa?

I'll be quite honest - aside from drive it about a bit last night and then check the fluids and tyre pressures this morning I know very little else about it.

Recent MOT history hasn't been bad, it's done 7k since its last test. There's been no corrosion advisories so it appears solid enough.

I'll speak to him tonight.

Does it have the original steelies amongst the other old shit spares?

Are you in need of a trip south at any point? I don't know that I can find the time to travel to the bit of North Yorkshire that's almost Scotland.

I might want this. Not for me, to replace my boss's Xantia after I killed it. Lemme check money tomorrow and I'll let you know!

From what I can remember from the last time I peered under it, structurally, it's not too bad if a little shabby. The fabled rear crossmember of doom is all there and wasn't rotten a couple of months ago. It had all bar one track rod end replaced at its last MoT (both inners and one outer - can't remember which side though) along with a steering gaiter on the N/S.

Front nearside strut is creaky and stiff but no leaks so I ignored that bit sorry, I logged that down for future maintenance.

Rear arm bearings are a bit leany but DON'T creak and are not about to fail causing many killings of nuns and kittens.

It'll probably need the pump turning down for the smoke test.

Lower engine mounting is the wrong way round so the engine can kangaroo a bit - mounting is sound and not oil laden nor cracked so off it went onto the future maintenance list.

erm, erm, that's it as far as I know but no doubt it could fail on a million things
