Starting packing, but I will be leaving tomorrow afternoon and promptly heading in completely the wrong direction. Anyone on Strava will be able to see what I'll be up to...

I expect to be in the field of dreams between 1 and 2 am, so if everyone has gone to bed (ha!) I will endeavour not to wake you up (which may be somewhat tricky with a throbbing V8).

Refused Friday off work? Check.

Staying 150 miles in the wrong direction? Check.

Worked my arse off all week to make sure I'm finished on time on Friday? Check.

Nice early night to prepare for the long day? Check.

Sent to a callout in the middle of the bastard night? Check.

Chances of making Shitefest? Next to fuck all, and even if I do I'll have been up all night.

I'm going to invoice work for the money I've spent on Shitefest preparations.

And now that I've handed in my hotel key and driven half way to the call out it's been cancelled.

On the plus side I should make it to SF after all, but I'm going to have to sleep in the van now.

I have done the work for tomorrow on my own time, so I'm going to head straight down the road as soon as the paperwork is signed.

I can't find my airbed anywhere.  Or the pump for that matter.  Might have to buy a new one from Tesco in the morning.

Asda have a single airbed for £10 or a double for £12.50, or either with a hand pump for £2.50 more.

Something for a wet/drunken evening

All the gaps are the names of cars and trucks of UK or USA origin some current, some ancient.

Mr (1) W.............. K.............. and miss (2) T. F............ were married recently in the Devon town of (3) P.................. Her unsuccesful suitor, Mr

(4)R..................(5) gN...............ed his teeth in despair.  The sky was (6) G...........and overcast, but the (7) M..............was beginning to rise and the

occasional ( 8) S................  slanted through the clouds. Although some unkind critics described the bride as rather a (9) M.................the

bridegroom was respected as a fine sport having played (10) R............. in many (11) I................... matches. The bride had made her own name

as a (12)................ of high (13)..................in Mr (14) M.................... C....................'s choir. There were so many guests that the ushers had to

(15) P................. to get them all into the church. The bridesmaid was (16) A................ - haired and the best man (17) M................(18)A.............

was a cross-country runner with a reputation as a fine (19)H................. He drove them to the church in his open (20) ......................and they

almost had an accident at a corner, but he was (21) S................ to (22) D..................the other car.  Rev(23) W...................was the

officiating ministerand the whole affair was reported in the "Evening (24) S.............." The happy couple drove in (25) T..............from the

reception and boarded their yacht on the (26) H .................. river. They sailed to New York and up the (27)....................river then travelled to

South  America for some (28) J................hunting. The bridegroom was a born (29) R.............., but they eventually returned (30)..............

to New York and sailed for England to settle in (31) B..................  Their first child was named Richard (32)B...............after their favourite radio

character . Richard was not a good child and his father often had to speak to him (33) C..................and occasionally to (34)................

However he grew up to be a good lad and was made a (35) P....................of his public school before going to (36) O..............where he

made a (37) M................ record by being sent down for poor punctuation , he never could remember his (38) C.................s .

answer (1) is NOT Wartburg

This should start a few arguments !

Tescos near me have single airbed for £5 and double for £7.50.

I will be bringing a very good German airbed pump my dad found washed up in a pile of driftwood on a beach in the Outer Hebrides, you are more then welcome to use it!

I was going to clean the car before leaving, but as I'm about to park it in a muddy/dusty field for 2 days, fuck that.

By the way, if you arrive in the next couple of hours, you may not find any e here. We're going shopping.

Posted

I'm leaving in about 10 mins! I've packed about 4% of the stuff I took to sf 15!

Posted

My plans have not gone to plan. I hoped to do a bit of a collection mission beforehand but that's been postponed.

This has left a last minute scramble to get one of my other cars ready to go, after a decision was made on which one to go for I then found out the replacement part needed to get it usable was the wrong one. Some modification later and we are sorted, nearly ready to go!

Jaguar has rewarded me for lavishing praise and attention on it by FTPing this morning.  Bastard.

It's only a flat battery but I've got nothing handy to jump it off, so the battery is now on charge in the house. This will delay departure.

I did 40 miles in it happily yesterday so it's not been standing, and I didn't leave the lights on so it appears to be some sort of electrical fault that's drained it.  Either that or the alternator has packed in.  Joy.
