Dick Cheeseburger Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I need to aim for this another year. Just out of interest, who owns the Corrado? Cornish 'plated - I wondered if they'd made the journey up. Heidel_Kakao 1

skattrd Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Awesome John. However Samara A-framing Cortina, apart from being a shoe-in for the calendar seems odd, is the Lada more powerful/heavier?
M'coli Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 That's gotta be a calendar contender! davidfowler2000 and oldcars 2
Tamworthbay Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Gutted I missed this (but happy to have MoT), I can't stop grinning about the bus. That is an epic road trip and to be applauded by all. Jerzy Woking and davidfowler2000 2
rantingYoof Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The Lexus got out reasonably easily, much to the surprise of all concerned. We basically thought that having a 200 metre run up and simply not giving a fuck about the turn and blasting a massive hole through the undergrowth to the road was the best approach, and that the collateral damage would only amount to "a village or two". Tamworthbay, purplebargeken, Junkman and 11 others 14
anonymous user Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Awesome John. However Samara A-framing Cortina, apart from being a shoe-in for the calendar seems odd, is the Lada more powerful/heavier?Presumably it was the Lada had the towbar and the Cortina didn't purplebargeken, KruJoe, Jerzy Woking and 2 others 5
trigger Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 You guys looked like you had a fantastic time even with the shit weather, I'm really disappointed to have missed out but at less i have the photos to look at. So wheres next years event then?
skattrd Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Presumably it was the Lada had the towbar and the Cortina didn't Doh! I'd forgotten that bit.
bub2006 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Thanks to six cylinder and Mrs cylinder for being great hosts with a bunch of hoodlums in a field. Great to meet new faces too. I have stopped at 3 services and at each one I've been asked if i been to Glastonbury. Junkman, holbeck, Skizzer and 6 others 9
chaseracer Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 We basically thought that having a 200 metre run up and simply not giving a fuck about the turn and blasting a massive hole through the undergrowth to the road was the best approach, and that the collateral damage would only amount to "a village or two". I tried that with the 205. Oddly, it didn't work! RayMK and Junkman 2
Junkman Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 So wheres next years event then? Hopefully in a nothwesterly urban environment with paved ground. Preferrably indoors. robinmasters, purplebargeken, chaseracer and 4 others 7
RayMK Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I tried that with the 205. Oddly, it didn't work! Momentum = mass x velocity. You were possibly a tad lighter in the mass department. chaseracer 1
chaseracer Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 ^ The car might be... Junkman, Sloth in a bowl and DeeJay 3
ruffgeezer Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Well shit... Gears were a bit crunchy on the way around MK but I blamed the rubber mat getting under the pedal, that was until I got to Peterborough where I found I could not get the truck in and out of gear at all. It was an interesting journey home... All roundabouts between Peterborough and Boston were taken with a steady run up in 4th, the town itself meant switching the engine off and restarting with it in 1st and jumping into 3rd as soon as the revs were somewhere near right. Home achieved but the clutch is utterly buggered. Thanks to the cylinders for their hospitality, and everyone who attended for making it a cracking weekend. trigger, vulgalour, andrew e and 8 others 11
stripped fred Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 It was good to meet up many of the fine members who make up this great forum. I'm still not completely sure who is who but had a good chat with quite a few. Still blown away by the bus being someone's project. I would never have thought that possible. Enjoyed the digger action but glad I wasn't the one who had to start it with the jump leads every time it stalled! It was a shame the access road was so muddy but the weather was strange with either blazing sunshine or torrential rain and little inbetween. Lots of great cars, most of which have been owned by Johnk at sone point. I also found that if I sleep diagonally I fit exactly in the back of an astra estate. To summarise, a great occasion and a rare opportunity to meet with like minded people who are all there to enjoy shite cars and have a good time. Jim Bell, catsinthewelder, vulgalour and 6 others 9

Richard Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 We have failed to spot the bus at Cherwell so we're just going to press on.
beko1987 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I'm home too, sadly the brothers touring have fuel issues, namely its passing out of the bottom of the tank. The big orange taxi has been called and they rearranged the 406 to accommodate them I got much strange looks driving home with the hook some shite sign on my bonnet. Ill do a better update in a bit, got a car to empty! The Moog 1

taxi paul Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I couldn't attend but have followed closely with a mixture of envy and amazement. Hope you all had a good time and hoping next year is a bit kinder to me and I may be able to join in. Well done to the host's for organising and explaining to the neighbours that " yes we know there is a fecking big yellow bus in the field" davidfowler2000 1
M'coli Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I met the neighbours (the ones with the 1200acre mixed arable and beef suckler farm opposite) yesterday morning, they (well, she was) were intrigued by the mysterious "AS" and the appearance of all types of old cars. I managed to delicately explain what was going on and the name of the website, which brought much laughter. Seemed to be nice people. Tamworthbay, wuvvum, Jerzy Woking and 7 others 10

JohnK Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Home achieved! Samara made a good tow car, cruised well on the motorway. Surprisingly not too bad to drive Tamworthbay, Sloth in a bowl, M'coli and 37 others 40
stripped fred Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I had a little drive of the Samara, about 20ft, and the engine felt quite eager to rev and felt quite pokey. explosive-cabbage 1
Sloth in a bowl Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Was great to see you all again, meeting old friends and making new ones, looking forward to Shitefest 2017.I have a load of photos to upload but flicker's uploader is FTPing unlike the Puma that is boringly reliable. To tide you over I have footage of a scary person in a JCB DSCF0062.MOV and a quick example of why people should get to Gaydon KruJoe, Junkman, RayMK and 4 others 7
