Petrol cost soon below £1.00

I usually try and fill up when the general public aren't around (pay at pump 24 hours FTW) so I don't have to deal with much stupidity. Even when the general public are around, the pumps on the left are always empty because most filler caps seem to be on the right nowadays.

Why the fxxk are mongs incapable of stretching the pipe around their car? They will happily sit and wait for the pump to be on the correct side to their filler. I can't be arsed with the waiting to do that! It amuses me the look of amazment on their faces when you are in and out whilst they are still queuing and they realise the pipe would go around their Binis etc.

Savv is drivers side.... I see this 'all empty slots' too - I park hard up onto the pump and long hose will reach over/round nae trubbs.

Same here, don't care which side I fill up. The Meriva is flat at the back, and the fuel filler so far towards the back that I just have to line the back end up with the pump. ZX the hose reaches over and I don't care about it dragging, not that it does anyway. The roof rails on the XM were handy for the hose though, as it held it off the paperwork.

The looks you get when you drive past a queue of mongs at one side and go straight to an incorrect side empty pump

Some guy got unfeasibly, incredibly angry with me for doing that a while back. Apparently jumping the queue to use the wrong side of the pump is against the law.

Yay, got me some 99p fuel yesterday, went to see family in bandit country (Suffolk) and them being in the urban jungle all petrol stations the same price.

Although I don't particularly care about fuel price as I have a car and need petrol to move it. It was satisfying watching the Litres go up slightly slower than the price though.

I love pulling up in front of the queues to use a pump on the opposite side, people genuinely look at you like you have lost your mind (whilst they wait 5 mins to fill up).

Hardly jumping the queue though is it - they're not queueing for the one you've used. Nothing stopping them doing it either.

Whichever petrol station I use I always "pay in kiosk". Then, when I venture inside if I find that they don't stock Frazzles I walk out and drive away without paying to teach them a lesson.

Permission to use your strategy?

I tend to brim the F every Monday, as it's usually empty (or emptyish) by the time I get home on Monday evening. I pass the Tesco on the way home, plus there is a MILF I enjoy flirting with that works Mondays. With the price heading down, we are both winners.

Just under Ã‚£50 to brim the F now, BTW. Happy with that.

I got my 99.9p fuel on Sunday from Morrisons in Guiseley. There was a couple of chavs with a Dame Edna Everage Saab having an argument and a barried up J reg MR2 next to me at the pump which made it even more interesting but sadly I didn't get a photo of either. Soz.

Best time in a long time to own a Jag V8 'innit. More money to go in my piggy bank towards something stupid.

I've been known on occasion to be subversive and pull onto the forecourt, see a line a morons waiting for a pump on the correct side, drive past the queue and spin my car round and reverse upto the pump so it is now on the correct side of my car and mine is the only car on the forecourt facing the wrong way. THEN you get some incredulous looks.......

Or........do a slow drive by and see which pumps are empty, and drive in the exit to your chosen position. ..

You may need something the size of a range rover to guarantee results tho...

Every time I try to do that the hose isn't quite long enough and I end up queuing for the pump on the same side as the filler. Pish.

Yay!

Filled the Almerashed up this morning - if they hadnt been wanting 5p a carrier bag I'd have filled some of them up too and taken some home for later.

Funny you should mention this because it gets me irate too. Then I tried to pay-at-pump at the little Asda station in the centre of Thornaby and found the pipe was so short you could only use it if your filler is on the right hand side. I really tried to run the pipe around to the left side of the car where the filler is but it was physically impossible. Very annoying. It's not like a 414 is ridiculously wide.

I tried that too with the Supra, once and only once.

Now I sit and wait in a queue for the "correct" side because the Supra is as wide as an oil tanker.

I never stretch the hose round, in the past when I've done it I've got mud/fuel/grit all over my clothes from pulling it out of the pump, scratched the paintwork to bits trailing it over then finding it's about three inches too short.

Petrol station kiosks should only sell milk and bread.

Waiting for the person in front to drip-feed their brand new BMW 11LOLspec with the precision of a neural surgeon and then bugger off inside TO DO A WHOLE FUCKING WEEKLY SHOP irritates the hell out of me.

At last have a "I WANT FUCKING PETROL ONLY" queue/kiosk/half to the fucking forecourt.

Nyarrrrgh.

S'pose it depends on the shape of your car and where the cap is, but with something Golf-shaped (like, say, a Golf), I just stop nice and close to the pump with the back end level with the pump nozzles and pull the hose out across the back of the car holding it off the paintwork/glass with my free hand. The pumps where the hoses are hung above head height are better for this though.

Towed the caravan to Blackpool with the Avantime on Sunday, yes I know how to live, 19.9 mpg so rather happy to fill up at 99.9p per litre.

I do enjoy manoeuvering in front of the weekly shoppers at the pumps and then faffing around until I'm only just starting to fill up when they're getting back to the car. It's important to make that connection so they can see who I am, and then I too will go into the store and deliberate over two different brands of scotch egg to waste their time.

Not sure it teaches them a lesson, does make me feel better.

My 13 yr old daughter (upon noticing that I always stop and open the door to check which side the filler is on in whichever vehicle I happen to have that day) casually said "why don't you just look at the arrow by the fuel gauge?".  And blow me down with a feather if there isn't indeed a little arrow on almost all of them. Embarrassed to say I've filled a thousand vehicles without noticing this.

I can stretch it around the back of my Cmax. Mind you you need to park up tight as you can to the pump. It was the same in the E Class merc. Yank the pipe hard and it would go around the back and in. This was in ArSeDA and their pipes are not the longest.

I've found that. I thought I would try the OMGCHEAP fuel, but half of the lanes were shut down (I think the plebs in their 65 plate Corsas etc were running them dry). Tried running the pipe round the other side of the car, but a short hose and a not exactly small car meant it didn't go well. The bird in the kiosk suggested I spin the car around and do it that way. But with some knobhead in a barried Golf beeping his horn and getting impatient, I wasn't in the mood for an argument, as I was knackered after doing a long shift and just wanted to get home...Think of all the money I saved by not filling up :-D :-D :-D
