As you may know, we now have a Zafira, but don't need an MPV. This *may be happening soon....

No, no, no, no, no.

It's a this:

1995 Mitsubishi Space Runner 1.8 GLXi Auto with a slidey side door and only the drivers door on the drivers side (of course).

It will be called Mitsi.

Space Runner or Mitsi? Might take the badge off and replace it with Death Star or something.

Collection rescheduled to Sunday morning.

call it Bongo Friendee. Oh, wait, that utterly ridiculous name is already taken.

Why no Trans Am? eh? Am I talking to myself??

There IS something wrong in the world when a car enthusiast buys an automatic bastard carrier and claims to be overcome with "much happiness".

I'm just going to stand in the autoshite corner now, ok.

I see it this way.

It is a bit different with only 3 doors, one of which is a slidey one.

It has an auto box which is good. You can turn it into a decent load lugger.

It isn't the size of a small moon (this can be both a plus and a negative.

It was gobsmackingly cheap and seems in good nick with an MOT history that has nowt of real note to stress over.

I mean, 250 quid. How can I lose?

Don't answer that.

Do I look like I can afford a Trans Am?? Do I? Do I?

I could put a bird transfer on the bonnet of the Mitsu maybe.

Collection tomorrow!!!!

Isn't that Mitsubishi a three door, five seat car?

I've got one of them. Though it's an MPV Rover 25.

Gotta be honest it seems pretty dismal

There is one of those mental Jap import targa top versions of this festering in the field where I store my trailer.

I had the "sporty" version of the space runner a while back and thought it was ace, slidey door on nearside, nowt on far side. Back seat slides back and forth and cubby holes everywhere. The seats were ace, and the driving position ok, but it did feel a bit like driving a van, a very fast van, but still a van. I'd defo have another, just don't mention RVR to Ruffgeezer, he still hasn't forgiven me for not selling it to him.

RVR_oside.jpg

Thinking about it now, I'd have this back in a heartbeat, it was ace for rep-mobile baiting, Evo running gear and engine with about 220bhp.

It was collectioned from Tooting, very tidy car indeed, just a slight waft or two of cleaning product should have it looking very good indeed inside. Outside. Is actaully fine. One bit of side trim missing (about 2" long) and a bumper end cap scuff. The odd little ding here and there.

It all works spot on. Ran like a dream and used less bloody petrol than the i10 FFS.

Pre-MOT check spotted nothing untoward other than a busted rear fog light bulb and fog light lens covered with sellotape. Proper red tape will be fitted, new bulb already fitted.

I like it. A lot.

No collection piccies as I stupidly forgot the camera. Soz.

Mine is the 1.8 version. It must have the diamond pack as it has a 'lecky sunroof, AC (no idea if it works though) and rear load cover.

It is actually quite ace. I'm pleased with it.

Oh, the spare tyre has a nail in it. Pfft. Literally.

Well I'll tell you what, Ken: you can ignore the H8RZ.  I'm right with you, to the point of being interested when you no longer are.  I remember sitting in one of these in a showroom many years ago and thinking, this is a bit of all right.

Gearbox correct: check.

Price band correct: check.

You may possibly not even have to Roffle it.

Exactly. An auto with a decent sized engine, in tidy nick for 250 quid. I'm in my happy place.

MOT scheduled for today!

MOT obtained without fuss or botheration whatsoever. Not even a bloody advisory, what is this place coming too?

Right. This is due to land outside Chez PBK tomorrow morning. I thought it time to get my insurance arse sorted.

Previous owner was a youngish lad who insured it via FJ for about 160 odd quid.

Easy, peasy. I phoned up my current insurers PBIS. Sorry, we can't do that on the classic policy. Hmm, ok. FJ can said I. I'll put you through to our modern car team. Sorry sir, we won't insure it either.

Really? Well thanks for fuck all.

Next up. carole Nash. I meant to call FJ but got the numbers mixed up. We can't do that on a classic policy sir but on the modern polict that will be 1000.00 pounds please.

Me: Hahahahahahahahaha. Hahahahahahaha. People, it is a 500 quid car. Byeeee.

FJ, lovely sounding woman by the name of Rebecca. Certainly sir, that will be 89 pound.

I love you Rebecca. Would you like to have my babies?

Ive owned a scenic and now have a Picasso. I'm a single 28 year old. I find them easier to get in and out of due to disability, great amount of space inside if needed and Picasso has dash mounted gearstick in just the right place. Prefer it over leaning to the gear stick in the scenic. Just my two pence worth
