URGENT - The fate of the WW roffle 405 is in your hands

So,

With collection planned for tomorrow, flight booked, ferry booked, insurance arranged, we get hit with "orange alert" storms which have caused some significant damage at work that I will need to repair immediately - basically I cant go.

Future work commitments, flight availability and prices mean its not justifiable to collect the car within the next month or so.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement.

Now what? well, its grossly unfair to expect the excellent Mr WilsonWilson to have to tax, insure and store a car he no longer owns, so I am passing the car on to someone from Autoshite.

I propose a basic auction. Five pound start, five pound bid increments, winner is the highest bidder tomorrow night at 10pm UK time according to the forum software.

If it goes for a fiver, so be it. If it goes for several hundred, thats wonderful.

Things to note - I refuse to profit from this. I have cancelled my  insurance with no penalty, can cancel the ferry for a minimal fee, the flight? ha....asking ryanair for a refund involves o'Leary coming round to your house and spitting in your face.

If that is covered from the auction, then thats nice (58 quid) If it doesnt go that high, then tough titty for me and I will try to rinse it through work expenses.

A percentage of the total will go to WW as compensation for me dicking him about - he has already had to fork out an extra months tax on it (twenty quid or so i guess?)

The rest will be donated to the forum.

WW ideally needs it gone by the end of next week so please take that into account and please dont let him down as I have done - he seems to be a 101% sound bloke.

Place your bid in a post on this thread, winner is the highest bidder at ten tomorrow. If there is a flurry of last second bids then the winner will be the highest bidder with a post time of 10:00.  10:01 is too late!

Thanks,

That's a damned shame Dave!  However, your misfortune etc...

Hand goes up for A Tenner (I'm perfectly sure I'll be well outbid).

Thats a very generous offer Hairnet, but while I would definitely have found a use for the car I was much more interested in the general adventure of collectioning - having it delivered would be a bit of an anti-climax and I would rather let another shiter benefit from the car now.

Or if you want we can try and get it relayed here somehow and you can collect it when you want. Tax can be sorted somehow in the interim.

If you still want the car I can collect it and store it until you are ready, I can even collect you from the airport when you have time to arrange collection.

Failing that I will add the next fiver bid

There is also the possibility of an empty trailer on another German collection so could get it to Frenchland.

We should make a TV series of this.

eh, scrap the 5 quid increment, bid whatever you want, but keep it whole pounds, no pennies.

Is there no way this can become another Autoshite bike like the Lancia?

It could remain in the beige fold until you are free to collect it. Taxed, tested, cared for by the user at the time as with the Y10?

This is going to be frenzied until someone puts in a sensible bid. But until then £65!

Fuck it. £125

Edit - Whoops I missed the £5 bid bit, serves me right for autoshiteing whilst loading a ship.

I'm gutted that DaveNumbers won't be running this home, but its obvious that HIS COUNRTY NEEDS HIM!  France really has been having some terrible storms of late. Specially the posh bit.

Car update!

In preperation for the off tomorrow (which is now off) I gave the car a check over ahead of its intercontinental journey.  A brake light was out so I popped up to Halfrauds for a bit bulb.  Parked in the CSI tent for extra LOL.

On my way home, the car did a slight FTP.  Starter didnt engage with the first turn of the key.  It did with the second attempt though, and all was gravy.  Diagnosis is that the starter solenoid is sticking.  Its happened once before early in my stewardship.  There is a new starter in the BOX OF JOY (see below) but its something to be aware of.

Box of joy update:

I have taken the disks and pads, manual boost controller, boost gauge, boost gauge pod, starter motor, top hose, Haynes book of inconvenient truths, cuddly toy (clockwork Chewbaccy)  air freshener, liquid conversion chart, Snap On too, AA badge, Sony tape converter and the Corgi bus donated by Christine (draw breath) and popped them all into one convenient box.  I also added a pass side front window regulator, which it kind of required.

I then hoovered out the interior and added the trailer plate and OEM PEUGEOT ROOF BARS.

I have been using the car daily, but if you're quick, theres half a tank of Deviljizz in the sherman.  Good for 250-300 miles.

Garuntee of Fish and Chips is transferable to whoever picks the car up, as long as theres a chippy open at the time.

This is my favoured haunt. Right on the fish quay, fresh off the boat:

Best of luck everyone, hope it goes to someone I owe a favour or two to (though that covers a lot of yous).

Is that Merc shot just off a mini roundabout? I think I oggled that when I came to pick the Colt up.

.... Have you considered bidding on your own car?

It is mate aye. I think he works at Sainsburys as it seems to be parked there most of the time.  It is a very very clean 190.

As Dave is moving the car on without taking a profit, and as I've already been paid through the Roffle, I don't think its right to bid on my own car.  I'm happy for it to go to a good home (or straight on swapz/gumtree if Billy wins).

There I was thinking the week's chaos last week meant I'd be posting a Mini to France!

Storage available here (near Leicester), safe and off road - I've no need to use the car so am happy to be a holding pen for it until it can be collected, if that's useful.
