What you planning on doing with it trig? Is it a keeper?

What's happening under the wheel arches? Are you painting over the red oxide or just under sealing? I don't know what the usual treatment is I hasten to add.

It looks brand new!

Nice pictures in the forest, strangely reminiscent of a certain matt black triumph of old. Not enough lumberjack shirt and shades though ;):P

I'm not sure yet, Originally it was just a little winter project and i just fancied driving one, plus it was cheap so decided to go for it, Now I really like it, more than the Cortina if I'm honest so we'll see, I have a few shows i want to do in it next year namely the BL day in Peterborough in August.

I remember him! I red oxide over the welds on the valance, then went around the edges with some seam sealer before red oxidizing again and then finished with two coats of Hammerite underseal all under the arches and wing, I still need to finish the rear arches as there's a hole either side on the end of sills but i have to wait until my mate can come back over for that.

This is an older photo but the other side was full of body filler!

I think 4 cars is my limit but i have a baby due in about 8 weeks so things could change! Plus there's still talk of the Ital Van coming up for sale soon which I'd love to take on, god knows where I'd put it or even when I'd have the time to do the work once the babies here?! First world problems!

Fair play man, this looks great. Not my cup of tea as a motor, but you've really turned it round. I wish I had your skill/ eye for detail.

I'd sack off the Cortina and keep this for a bit, bet you'd make a bit of cash on the Ford and this will probably give you as much pleasure for what you use it for. And then you can take on the Italian van.

Have you still got the Sierra too?

Similar position here although baby due in 1 week!!!!

I have been talking about selling the Cortina for a bit now but everyone keeps trying to talk me out of it, TBH half the fun for me is doing the cars up, the Cortina has got a bit boring now as all i do is just drive it to shows and back and everyone has seen it now.

It's a lot of money to have sat there as a garage ornament and i haven't even thought about it since i parked it up in September in the inlaws garage... Trouble is I wouldn't take less than £5000 for it and who will pay that?

Oh and i still have the Sierra, That's another one that's days are numbers, Lovely car to drive and has been totally reliable since I got it back on the road but it's a bit underwhelming plus Mrs Trigger doesn't get on with it so i ideally could do with something with power steering and front wheel drive to use instead.

Probably somebody, it does look nice and that's not a totally outrageous price for a Mk3 these days is it?

The dolly looks bloody marvellous, and certainly worth keeping for a while. I often think of selling my Metro as I hardly use it, but I'm rather attached to the old thing having owned it for seven years now. Depends if you're similarly attached to the Cortina Trig, if not might be worth seeing if your Dad wants another one!

Shame my dad bought the Mk1 really! I wonder if i could interest my Mum in the Mk3 as she loved it!. The engine bay is a bit worn looking Ken but it's mainly because it's been waxoyled from new which doesn't seem to come off. I'm just going to leave it now as it looks more natural!

That is one honey of a car. I agree that you should keep it, I think it's a bit of a shame to do such a sterling job only to pass it on to someone else, especially something as niche as an SE, not everyone will know what it is.

Posted

Ah, that makes sense :) fair enough mate. Truly superb job on the rest though :)

Only just caught up on this thread, you've done wonders on this Trig. It's giving me a kick up the arse that I need to do the work on my Toledo that is needed and also get movement on the older of my E23 7 series BMW's.

Time will severely reduce once the little one is here though!

Dude, I kid you not, but I would pay you cash money to weld and paint my Jag!  You are probably too busy with real life to start taking on paid bodyshop gigs, but whatevs.  The Dolly looks fabbo.

I enjoy doing the bodywork if I'm honest but I won't have much time now for anymore for probably at least 20 years now!

I put a few more miles on this now and it seems to be getting better and better, I have a few jobs to do though, I think the heater fan cable has broke as the lever has started to move now but the blowers do nowt, a breather pipe has split so it won't tick over without a little choke and I really must sort the brake pedal that keeps losing pressure.

I also fixed an error of mine on the front that someone pointed out, can you spot what it is?.
