Panda Rescue with added twist -

Recommended Posts

This has been parked up for over three years, so it was only 7 or 8 when it was parked up, It's seen better days however I feel it deserves a second chance at life..

should I approach the owner, and inquire if it's for sale? or best to keep away in case it goes missing the day after!

Not sure why you'd bother?  These are everywhere, and it now has three years of total neglect to add to whatever killed it in the first place.

^Agreed.  But this is Autoshite so I hope  you've at least left a note under the wiper.

You utter bastards!!! All the Pandai must be saved.

However, it's a 1.1 Active so... if it's dirt-dirt cheap maybe.

Only one kind of Panda is worth saving.

And it doesnt shit in the woods.

I rate those pandas , good old fire engine . No multiplex bollocks . The ones I see don't ever need much and if they do then parts are peanuts

Posted

It needs saving simply because it isn't a grey BMW!  Anyone who had the temerity to order a new car in an actual colour deserves to see it live on.

Leave note see what happens, this is the AS way.

Square one's are betterer though.

I like the 'new' Panda. I had a 1.2 example from 2004. It was economical, reliable and gr9 to drive.

However, the absolute best thing about them is, the Fiat 500 is much the same car but four times the price. Take that, hipsters of the suburbs :)

My Cypriot friends still have a couple of these, retired off their rental fleet and kept for personal use.  A bit of a paintjob to combat the sun damage and bingo, a city car to be proud of.

My father bought a new Polo in bright red in 2009, partly because his old Golf 3 was a similar colour and partly because he hates cars in drab, anonymous colours. He really likes the fact that both of my cars are red :)

Didn't the fire engines have OMGHGF problems? Maybe what caused it to be laid up?

Posted

Our Lass' one has been mega reliable, but driving it is a thoroughly miserable experience.

Leave it there.

Posted

Omghgf is usually down to lack of coolant changes I reckon . Every one that I've done a hg on has had rusty manky coolant . They also rust out the core plug behind the flywheel leading to overheating

Posted

Anyone know what would be the ideal autoshite spec, engine etc for one of these?

Posted

1.1 active I think. Small engine, black bumpers, Wheeltrims and no trip computer

They're total wank. I must have had the only two bad ones ever made, the 09 one broke down literally EVERY SINGLE DAY. It nearly broke me and I lost thousands on it. Took it in to 5 or 6 garages and no one could fix it. I should have got rid of the POS straight away but kept persevering, thinking it's only a FIRE, what can it be? They're stone age. Run away, far away. The 1.1 is slow as shite too.

The electrics went through self destruction every week something extra fucked up.

Posted

They don't generally suffer from HGF since the Grande Punto came out, misfires are rife though due to shit wiring and ECUs.

My dad loved his, it was the last car he owned before he gave up driving.

Despite what I said above,I loved driving 'em, the 05 Dynamic I had in red with roof bars was my fave of the two. I drove a euro 5 spec 1.1 and it's the only thing I've driven that I'd describe as dangerously slow. The accelerator wasn't even a volume control, it just did nowt. The earlier euro 4 spec might not be so bad, though the 1.2 is out of breath over 40 mph - they just don't rev.

I have the stupid model which should be avoided. (100HP) 3 days of ownership and the keyfob/immobiliser went and left me stranded at about a £300 cost.

Climate control has packed in and it's a £1200 part... plus fitting and VAT. (Around a 10 hour job as the dash and doors have to come off) At the minute if I want cold air, I set the fan speed low, if I want hot I set the speed to full. (Temp gauge does nothing)

Having said that, I want them all...

Let me get this right, the doors have to come off to fix the climate control? That can't be right can it.

I believe that the unit is pretty much the first thing they install into the car.
