Auction Shite - 10th June

I was rather hoping that when this was catalogued, there would be a bit more information. Such things as if it runs or even if complete. Maybe when it's all in Leominster, which will be a major operation in itself, they'll add better descriptions.

FathaNorfolk was making noises suggesting attending the sale but as I'm skint and he is a bad influence on me and worse ,likely to buy some long term project of a bus or commercial nature that I'll end up inheriting, I'm not sure this is a good plan.

Oh, I could get myself in a lot of trouble at that auction.  Just as well I can't go along or I'd be the happy and broke owner of many, many wonderful things including that amazing Rover Scout concept.

I want the GAZ surface to air missile launcher too! And I work at Heathrow Airport! A great daily drive (& the fastest way to getting the sack-but worth it!)

rover scout, ambasador & daf 55- i'm not greedy

From what I've been told not all the big stuff will be making the trip to Leominster, partially because some of the buildings need to be demolished to get them out.

RFTH.

Most of what's there needs sweeping up and putting in the bin, not auctioning off. Even the stuff that looked intact was covered in water from a leaky roof.

I noticed the XJ S3 isn't in the list. Maybe they knocked it when they were hoovering and sucked it up by mistake?

Bollocks it's not that bad. There's some shitters but also some gold if you enjoy a bit of a project.

I've got to agree with Partridge here, i reckon 80% of it is rubbish, big holes in the floors, missing and damaged interior, flapping sills and perished looking engine bays.

You need to 100% know at what your buying and be prepared to dig deep to get them back on the road IMHO.

Any of these would do me nicely to add to my list of things I like to complain about being unable to finish.  I'm not even going to try and pick favourites, there's not really anything I'd say no to.  Money no object I'd buy the lot.

Some of the Stondon stuff has already gone through Brightwell's and the quality is various, some is ok, some is horrible. If they're described as a runner the staff will let you start the vehicle (if you have a catalogue/bidding number).

Generally the simpler the car is, the more likely it is OK, you'd need balls of titanium to buy the Citroen SM but something like a Jowett Bradford should be fine as long as you value it on the assumption it'll need mechanical work.

You wouldn't want to buy anything without having a good look at it. I expect the catalogue will get better as they change £20 for it (which gets a bidding number and two people into bidding room).

You can turn up and look for nowt but the staff won't do anything for you like unlock cars etc unless you have a catalogue.

The best* stuff doesn't seem to be in the auction :( They had a low mileage Yugo, an FSO estate, a Lada Riva, a Talbot Alpine and a Vauxhall Viceroy among others but none of those are listed. Realistically a lot of them are spares donors at best but there's a few gems - my money's on the Rover Scout being the star if a few Metro pervs start fighting over it. I also pray the VW Derby doesn't fall into the hands of a pineapple fondler.

A fucked-looking early Lagonda is probably my ultimate dream car. I may need to padlock myself to the house that morning.

I mean, it can't be *that* hard to get that through a MOT, can it? I've got spanners, Scotchblocks, gaffer tape, the works.

The DS cabriolet isn't there either. Nobel 200 for me!

You may also need a multimeter, but seriously, WCPGW?

Got one of those too! Only a very sketchy idea how to use it, but that Lagonda would be a fantastic electricity LEARNING OPPORTUNITY.

I've gotta be honest and admit that of the stuff listed theres nothing that massively floats my boat. Looks like a lot of the stuff that would push my buttons isn't listed / already sold.

Just as well though as its my birthday that day and bad things could have happened otherwise.

The Yugo + others were donations or loans so I assume have been offered back/gone elsewhere.

I drove past Brightwells on Sunday morning and there was a car boot sale going on. As the catalogue is basically my bucket list, perhaps I should have had a look in to get in training for the main event :)

That VW Derby is stunning and probably one of the best cars there condition wise, under 30k on the clock too. Most of the decent stuff isn't listed like the Nissan Cherry and Vanden Plas Allegro.
