Absolutely.  Our dog is absolutely uninterested in it.

£40 very well swapped! It's the kind of delightful car that in a few years there will be exactly 0 left

Yeah, top bombing Shatpeaz, nowt wrong with these!

I salute you on such a fine purchase. AS Gold goes to Mr. SP.

Mine was a 1400 se. Good motor for a cheap price only let down by its mpg. Comfy - nice road manners and better feeling power steering than other cars I have driven. Proper wheel trims on mine. Felt guilty scraping it as it was still fine - but no one wants them.

I'd suggest popping the top cover off the cambelt to have a look at it and get someone to crank it round on the starter and see if it looks ok.  The other stuff like tensioners and water pump tends to make some noise before giving up.

Given that the rusty arch appears to be on a front wing, a secondhand one and you've got a perfectly ok looking car.  Presume it is a bit heavy on tax though, shame that, daft rules really - just a few more ccs and you get hammered for tax.

Yeah, it's higher tax bracket compared to the 1.4 unfortunately. Even though it's no quicker and more thirsty, so the 1.6 has no + points. The front wing is the only real rust area (though the sill ends are getting a bit crusty) so it's worth a swap for a good second hand one imo too.

These are the original style trims. This one out shites you as it's a thoroughly miserable saloon.

BARRY SAVED MONEY ON HIS DAEWOO, AND NEW HE FEELS EPIC.

The free tennis ball just makes it. It's a Slazenger, so it's a good one. You wanna ebay that. It's often said, but seriously, how can you go wrong for £40 quid? You could spend double that a week on train fares to get to work and back.

Top stuff!

I managed to hire a BRAND NEW Chevrolet Lanos in Egypt last year. It was a 'free upgrade'. From what I didn't dare ask, because it was horrible. I think you've paid less to buy one than I did to rent an utterly wrecked one for three days - for £40 its great, if only because then I wouldn't feel guilty when I kicked it repeatedly. Here it is shortly before getting a second puncture in 48 hours:

Top stuff!

And when you get to work, you can tuck into a Marathon and look forward to watching Bullseye later, because it sounds like you're quoting 1983 prices....

£40 on a train doesn't get you from one end of the platform to the other.

SUPA VALU!

£40 for that is utterly amazing. The spec list doesn't sound too bad and on the face of it, it looks alright too.

I'd quite happily roll in that until a nuclear apocalypse occurred and even then, that would still start and drive out of there* - well played, Shitheapz.

Missing side bump strips and home made crooklock in the boot.

Only a true blooded, genuine OE-spec giffer could be bothered to make their own crooklock!

Thug Life!

I never get tired of watching it.

I would pay $400 for a yellow one.

Due to suddenly needing money for the 405TD that I'm due to collect on Saturday, the Lanos of win is now available for purchase!

Its a 1.6 Corsa variant engine on 78823 miles.  Its got all five manually selected gears plus reverse.

Its been faultless for Mrs Shitpeas and Ive had enough confidence in it to let her drive it off to Warwick, Leicester etc Its never given any problems of any sort.  I would happily drive it to Finland.

It had a Cam Belt, tensioner and water pump on the 22nd May 2015.

Clutch is spot on, brakes are spot on, steering is light and direct.

MOT'd right up til 13/01/16 (nearly six months remaining) - no advisories on the last MOT.

Its pretty high specced for what it is really:

Rev counter AND clock

PAS

ABS

CL

EW

EA (electric ariel!)

AIR CON (Just needs regassed*)

Rear Wiper

OEM headlight protectors from new

Interior petrol cap release

Comes with 3 keys.

Half a tank of petrol if you're quick!

Issues of note that your probably wouldnt tollerate on a car costing 20 times as much:

Rust on drivers side front arch - pictured.

Crusty rear sill end - pictured. (not bad but worth a mention)

Radio doesnt work.

ABS light is intermittent.

Air bag light is on.

EML light is intermittent - I did a paper clip code reader test and it came back as O2 sensor.  Car starts and runs without fault so this was duly ignored.

Car is located in North East England.  Near Kent and Inverness by way of roads and public transport.

Asking price is £175 - which less than the price of the cambelt kit and water pump plus the labour to have them fitted. (think I have the parts reciepts somewhere too)
