I'm disappointed that page 504 doesn't feature the 504...

A little know fact is the current 504 is not the first one I have owned.

On one of Phil Chidlow's curated 'challenges' in 2022, just weeks after Pete Sparrow had completed a 720cc conversion.  2500 miles around France was obviously the best* way to run in the new motor...

The weather was unseasonably warm for late May, and the Dyane was reluctant to start when hot.  In the pic, I had made the basic error of pausing at the top after a long run up the Gorges de l'Ardeche in 30deg temps! That bag of ice is trying to cool down various parts of the fuel system to stop the French 95-octane unleaded vaporising.

It worked... sort of!  Sticking to 98 Super made a difference.

First year in France in 1979 my dad filled up the brand new Dyane with the cheapest petrol which turned out to be 2*. It was not at all happy.

A nice venue to visit. I have been a few times, last time was last year with Richard Morris's Merecdes E320 Coupe.

It is too soon for me to plan which events I am attending next year.

Yesterday while out in our V70 @hairnet asked if I had ever had a Volvo 850 and I couldn't remember if the other Volvos I had of that shape were V70s or 850s. The answer is I have had two 850, one a GLT 2.5 20v Auto and the other an S 2.5 10v manual.

Yes at one time we had his and hers Volvo estates, I had 170bhp and Mrs6C had 240bhp!

I did also have another V70 of this shape, a 2.5 10v Auto.

Is anybody intrested in a Christmas Autoshite Zoom?

I am thinking evening Wednesday 27th December?

This is in addition to the FoD tea and chat in a heated party tent Thursday 28th December, which is definitely going ahead.

I was thinking about asking for one, so yes that would be a good thing. I am driving back from oxford in the morning and off to wales on Thursday, so this is the ideal window.

Fun* fact, @Six-cylinder once cruelly teased me with a really cheap TX he found/got made aware of, during one of the zoom calls of previous years :)

as you can tell I have not forgotten about it

If I’m free I’ll be up for the Zoom. Only have 2 days off over the festivities as I am on call from 26th Dec to 2nd Jan

So broken rover now?

But not mind!

@Prince_of_darkness91 has borrowed the slightly broken 480 because the alternator is screaming on his Rover and not charging properly so the power steering is cutting out.

a an earlier Rover 75 like this sort, especially in red,  is a car very much on the "to have a fling with/own" list someday

just because of the memories playing the Playstation 2 game, The Getaway growing up :) (and recently when I played through it again on an emulator)

and I also really like their "old timey" dash setup the warm glow at night looks really nice to me, something different from the solid colours you normally get

Just because it had to wear nappies because of the leakage doesn't mean it's nice to mock the 480!
