fordperv Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 What a giggle, i enjoyed watching, I really liked the scorpio hearse before it got converted oldcars 1
v8 scania Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 where was that abandoned town they raced around
messerschmitt owner Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 where was that abandoned town they raced aroundarmy training ground, I would guess, where they practice shooting us all when we decide to have an uprising after the next election. Junkman, The Old Bloke Next Door and Banger Kenny 3
Jezzerh Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I think it's one of those military training places.
The Moog Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I properly LOLd at it... Which is not the norm for top gear AlabamaShrimp and scruff 2
andy18s Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I properly LOLd at it... Which is not the norm for top gearMust admit Hammonds patient delivery system was comical
gm Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I was so pleased to see a 944 turbo until I realised that it would end up ruined like the rest of their 'challenge' cars, having said that, I did have a good few chuckles at the show and the 944 did sound lovely being booted round the abandoned town. Could I be tempted back into another 944 ? Quite possibly, now, what's available on that ebay tonight ?
Junkman Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 http://sniffpetrol.com/2015/01/23/forum-gets-top-gear-discussion-thread-done/#.VNfIXX7fWrU OK, I'm the one mentioning William Woollard then.
Doctormop Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Really enjoyed tonights episode but thats probably down to trying to watch channel 5's The Classic car show with such heavyweights as Quentin 'genuine mileage' Wilson and Jodie 'petrolhead' Kidd which would make a stick in a dog turd compelling viewing. dugong, Banger Kenny and alf892 3
fairkens Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I did A genuine lol when they were doing the patient power lap and James mays tailgate fell open as he pulled away, first one in a few series
Forty-two Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 the NOS selector, patient - engine and the patient delivery system in Hammonds ambliwans both made me chuckle.
UltraWomble Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I'll be the one to say "Actually I like it" RayMK 1
mrbenn Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Not a bad episode, just a shame they feel the need to destroy every car they use for these challenges. AlabamaShrimp and oldcars 2
xtriple Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I thought the hearse and the Porsche looked to be really nice. Never knew they did hearses like that with that spec and engine, if I had, I'd have commited suicide YEARS ago so I could have had a go in one!
AlabamaShrimp Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Was a lot better than last week and the bit with Clarkson in the back of the porsche was very funny. As others have said shame they always have to smash stuff up but stupid is as stupid does
GrumpyCat Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 where was that abandoned town they raced around Lydd Camp, Kent. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.9437087,0.9034823,185m/data=!3m1!1e3
derskine Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I watched it on iplayer, I skipped past anything that wasn't the ambulance challenge but I still got bored and turned it off. Lacquer Peel, DodgyBastard, barefoot and 1 other 4
fairkens Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Thinking about it I also lolled when Ricciardo (sp?) beat Lewis Hamilton's lap time but that mainly because I don't like Hamilton Banger Kenny 1
STUNO Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 We are so up to date here that top gear announced their car of the year in tonights episode. for 2007
xtriple Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Dan Ricciardo, I loved the question for him from the audience. Class! For those that didn't see it: "What does the back of Lewis' Mercedes look like?"
Slappy Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Ah, of course it was Lydd, I should have remembered the tip off from my old local paper because Clarkson was complaining that trying to drive around a road in Ashford with speed cushions (The Street/Utley Road in Kennington to Stuboy, Robinmasters and Vantman if they read this) in the ambulances (and ecnalubma) was "dangerous". Tetanus fact: Michael Schumacher had a prang down at Lydd whilst filming an ad for Fiat.
Taff Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Filmed at the FIBUA village in Lydd and edited massively because there is no way you could drive round Lydd for an hour. Like Erskine, I got bored & distracted, in my case by a cat eating ham. I can't help thinking the show is well past it's sell-by date inconsistant 1
barefoot Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 I didn't see the prog, but re the Ricardo lap time, isn't he in a newer, better car than Hamilton was?
Jim Bergerac Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The F1 drivers still use the Suzuki LIANA from the earliest series for their laps.

AnthonyG Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 At the risk of sounding like someone on sniffpetrol, I think it is getting very tired, the ambulance bit made me a chuckle a bit (particularly Hammond's rocket propelled patient delivery system) but I spent most of it wondering if the blue Calibra in the Lydd village was going to get sideswiped or blown up. Having said the above, I did enjoy the St Petersburg episode. But TG is12 or 13 years old now in this format and I'm not sure how long it can continue.
garbaldy Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 The chap who writes SniffPetrol is one of the writers on Top Gear. Well he was spot on with that article. scruff 1
