Yeah I have found a rear light on the bay just now, new for about £24 delivered so not too bad, although ideally thats a £5 touch from a scrappy innit

Still not too bad, though. In fact, I suppose it's quite a result all in, they must be pretty rare now. Any chance of you finding a headlight in France next time your over there? I'll keep looking anyhow, I was a member of a FIAT forum, if I can find  log in details I'll ask on there.

For the headlight, I am sure one will turn up. or as an alternative I could change it and fit a set of Mk1 headlights, grille & indicators (loads of cheap new Mk1 Uno headlights on the bay)

I can confirm that a MK2 Uno headlight is the same headlight as the Fiorino...

I've just searched on 'Eper', so if you click on this link there should be a load of different part numbers for the lights...

Modern toilets are crap. Our old one dated from the 1950's and could withstand anything, our new one fitted a few years ago can not withstand my bowel motions and often does the "backing up" routine - I now have been banished to having a bail at work only.

[/thread hijack]

Thanks to the environmental lobby modern toilets have a lower water capacity than older stuff. Better ones are engineered to cope with this, cheaper once may necessitate flushing twice.

If your toilet is "backing up" you have a drainage problem further down the line.

Or perhaps you should get more fibre in your diet.

Hey Vin!!!

I've used this thing and i think the Mk2 Uno headlight is different, but I might be using the EPER thing incorrectly. Can you give me any more details?

You've got me wondering now Boll...

I was told many moons ago that MK2 lights fitted the Fiorino, but I've never actually seen them myself... I think there is some variance with the MK 1 light due to adjusters...

It wouldn't surprise me if they were the same but have completely different part numbers, what with it being Fiat and all

What I would suggest is put 'Fiat Fiorino Faro' and 'Fiat Uno Faro' into Italian Ebay and look at the pictures to compare with what you've got. There's loads on there but they'll all be for LHD beam pattern, so not really much use other than a reference...

There was a very dead van version in the caravan storage site I used to use a couple of years ago. It's in Shavington near Crewe if it's worth checking out?

Posted

It's at, or was at the amusingly named COCKSHADES FARM .

  1. Cockshades Farm - Horse Livery & Caravan Storage Cheshire
  2. Caravan Storage Facility
  3.
  4.
  5. Address: Stock Lane, Nantwich, Cheshire CW5 7HA

If you look at Google satellite view you can see the van in the bottom right corner of the big field of caravans on the left hand side. It's red so stands out among all the caravans.

Presumably it belongs to someone who is paying £200 odd a year to store it. It actually looked in pretty good nick except it's been standing for years. I'd enquire at the farmhouse, they were a really good bunch if I remember.

Right, anyone wanna see what this thing actually looks like? Here it is:

P1060928.jpg

I a-framed it back from Holywell in North wales to Nantwich, about 20 miles or so. as usual I gave myself a massive headache stressing about it beforehand, but once it was hooked up and we were moving it towed beautifully, really stable and not terribly heavy, and the stress levels quickly subsided. I have done little with it but I did buy a scrapyard battery yesterday from McGuiness's ( a big silver Bosch effort, failry new-looking, £20 BARG) which managed to get the 1.7D engine started.

P1060924.jpg

It actually runs pretty well once started, but the starting procedure doesnt inspire much confidence. When you turn the key, there is a variety of clicks and whirrs as if your battery is flat (it isn't) then after a few moments the engine starts to turn over very slowly. Eventually it speeds up to a normal cranking speed and the thing starts to fire. Then it chugs over on the starter with one or two pots firing and you think 'this POS if never gonna start FFS' but eventually it does, and once its cleared its throat it runs absolutley lovely.

P1060927.jpg

Ive driven it about and believe it or not it actially drives OK, no horrible clonks or owt and the brakes pull it up sharply and evenly. ONe thing which is a worry is, if you reverse with the steering on full lock, there is a HORRIBLE high-pitched grinding sound like gears trying to engage without any syncromesh, as you let the clutch up. Its such a horrible noise that you're best off gently reversing in a straight line and finding another way to get out your parking space. While travelling forwards I couldnt reproduce the noise so not sure WTF is going on there.

P1060926.jpg

The interior is all present and correct and showing 62.000 miles. Bit smelly in there but its all rubber mats etc so can no doubt be cleaned up easy enough. Its got electric windows!!! They don't work like.

The Truck bed is all sound, no welding needed there:

P1060929.jpg

P1060925.jpg

It does need welding on the sills though. Both have been patched, and the rust has busted out from underneath the patches. It needfs chopping out and doing properly. It doesnt look like a flipping massive ordeal though, if I can find a cheap Uno sill it will probably speed the job up too, I will chop it down into sections and repair whats there. I will email that 'Petes panels' guy and see if he has one.

P1060923.jpg

So thats the 10p tour, needs a headlight, a rear light, welding on the sills, a new rear number plate, a good clean up and that funny noise investigating. Oh yeah that ladder rack bar thing on the back of the cab needs cleaning up & repainting too as its going all rusty. The truck cost £180 so I should be able to get that lot sorted without ending up with a massive unreccoverable loss I think.

I can see that making a handy little daily, and the price is right too.  Uk-corvair, are you reading?  This must give you some kind of guide for that 205.

Best part of it all is the colour.  I have much envy.

Looks sound Boll. Nice acquisition- jealous.

The lights won't be unique, there will be other Eyetie stuff compatible, but I'm not good enough to know.

Think I saw some Uno sills on Thiefbay recently, may even finish this weekend.

Look forward to the write up. Nice. Well done both

The headlights aren't Mk2 Uno, they're off of the Innocenti Elba, same as the rear lights.  There's plenty on ebay.it, but finding a RHD one might be a bit of an arse...

Yeah, they want £80 for a headlight and rearlight, they can keep 'em!!

Full lock grinding will be something daft like mudflap catching maybe. Top bombing mr b

Nice work on buying the Fiorino Pickup Mr B. Me and my brother have a X reg 1.7TD Business Van which I mentioned on here about 18 mths ago and Im ashamed to say not a great deal been done to get it back on the road of late, but I'm hopefully going to get back on it soon an dare I say try and MOT it this year.

As mentioned and as I'm already aware to my wallets cost the headlights are unique to the Fiorino and are about £180 each from Fiat if you can find one!

I might be able to help with the Drivers Headlight as I brought a brand new pair for are Van off Ebay last year as the nearside was rusted and I thought a matching pair would look better. So the original Drivers light is still kicking about at my dads and I think there could be a rear lens too but unsure if it's the correct side.

Let me know if your interested and I'll try and get over there Saturday and check on both for you

Also our Van has some of the same issues as your pickup. It needs the sills sorting as they have been bodged too. An had already though of doing the same as your idea and source some Uno sills to fix it just gotta find someone to weld it up.

The other is the noise in reverse our Van sounds terrible I'm just hoping it's not an expensive fix with that one.

Drove past a Fiorano van today (lives in the next village) and that also had a duff nearside rear light. Must be a market for them then!

Good work Cav / Boll - Will watch how this pans out. Must be a rare beast as I have only seen 1 pick up.

Don't look too bad on alloys - a good non scene pick up.
