No more cars!

I have come to the conclusion that I have reached the optimum number of cars. I will no longer be purchasing any more cars. The only way forward will be to sell/swap.

This is where I am now:

1. The Amazon

2. The TR7 Toledo

3. The Triumph 1500FWD

4. The modern Beetle

I have no more space, no more energy and just about enough money. I think enough is enough.

Phew!

I'm guessing Mr_Bickle is coming for the Twingo soon then John.

I'm collecting another motor on the 2nd Jan, so probably not far behind him. Following this purchase I should* be selling 2 - 5 vehicles shortly afterwards.

4 or 5 does seem to be a reasonable number of motors to me. When it gets above that it just seems to be a battle of keeping some running and making no progress on the ones awaiting more serious work.

Having had varying numbers in the chod fleet, I have concluded that 2 is the highest number that I can maintain and use with purpose.

I absolutely take my hat off to folk like Nigel.

Found a way of buying a Cosmo, then?

I've decided 2015 needs to be a bucket list exercise for me, starting with a Jag preferably. Or something properly old and tax exempt.

Nope, the Cosmo auction ended at £5600, way above what my unemployed budget allows.

I'm buying another Daihatsu, which will most likely be for sale as soon as the paperwork comes through ... I have ulterior motives for buying this one ;)

I'm with you on this Rob, time to stop pissing around and get some kwality motors instead of messing about with ones that vaguely interest.

Fingers crossed I may get an Esperoo next year.

Just never get a trade policy it feeds the illness. At one point last year I had 7 cars on the road , which was stressfull and now probably financially impossible thanks to the new car tax rules .

I'm thinking of selling some shite, I've lost my way with cars, I've got about 18, I don't want them sitting about getting knackered so I'm going to try and part with a few and concentrate on my favourites

I have to wonder if 2015 will be the year I actually buy a car - really, it depends if I can find a place for the next academic year with off-road storage, i.e. a drive. If that's the case and I can get the money together, a hopefully Dolomite-shaped project may be on the cards.

I'm at 3 again, seems to be my optimum number.  I'm lucky if one works.  Renault collection in January (yay!), Princess has to be back on the road by March because the 40th birthday event happens then and the Xantia is as the Xantia does.

I kinda want to sack the Xantia off but it's too bloody useful, and cheap, and excellent.  So I'm stuck with it on account of it being too good at everything.  I miss the smell of burning oil and having to fiddle with controls in a particular way to make them work.  I miss driving around and breaking down in the Princess.

Event?  Where, when?  I may have to buy a Princess, quick.  Anyone know of one available?

As has been alluded to previously somewhere. There is a chance that the point of breaking will be reached with regards to my all time favourite cars - The Rover 800s. I will keep a couple of them no matter what, but I do reckon it's time to possibly cut the numbers slightly, unless I am extremely fortunate to land upon some vast covered storage in exchange for little outlay. This might just be possible, but we must always be prepared for the worst.

Unfortunately it looks like I'll be in a similar situation soon, as my parents are selling their house in the near future and moving in with my grandparents to care for them. There is one single garage there. The Atlantic's definitely going to have to go at some point, and possibly something else as well. To be fair, at five cars I have a lot less than some on here, but I still struggle to keep just three roadworthy.

19 is too many really but it is only 10 for her and 9 for me. This year will see the Saab go, it is an excellent car and if I did missed of motorway driving it would be great but I don't really like driving an auto (it's my first).

The others have some sentimental value, after to much fun to give up or would only end up scraped and they aren't costing anything to store.

Don't get me wrong, I would likely have more but it is just finding places to put the bloody things and I've now run out of space.

I currently have one modern (ish) car (Alfa 156), two working classics (a Lotus and a Landy), and one broken Lancia.  That may get fixed and sold, or it may just get sold.  I have recently sold another not broken but mega rusty Lancia to Will of this parish.  My wife has a modern (ish) car  (Pug 206 CC).

I am really going to try NOT to buy a single car this year.  Last year I sold six and bought six.

I think my record was nine cars and three motorbikes, so I am a bit amateur by Autoshite standards. I recall one weekend when I owned six or seven cars that had tax, MoTs and insurance and not one of them was working.

My 2 Triumphs are MOT'd, one is taxed and insured. The Amazon is insured and taxed but not MOT'd. It will all be sorted soon.

Would love to join in with the fleet reductions, but i'm yet to pick up two cars from people off here.

I will have to reduce the numbers at some point though.

I have 11 cars which is slightly insane.

I'm hoping to get down the total down to 6 in 2015.

I haven't bought anything for 3 years,so 1 i have had for 3 years,1for almost 5 years and the Daimler 9 years.

This year may bring a new modern for MrsV8.

I still fancy something Swedish and floppy!

I'm up at 6 at the moment but cant help looking at cheap shite on ebay or gumtree. I really need to focus on the ones I've got because buying 1 car each month for the last few months has crippled me financially especially on my apprentice wages.

I've got 2 cars on the road,

a Proton mpi and a Proton Jumbuck

I really need to restrain from buying more shite, I've got enough as it is.

Love that Saab!

How many Proton Jumbucks are there here? I don't believe I've ever seen one 4 reel

I have decided to stop buying cars and stick with the Rolls and the hearse. Unfortunatly I am now enjoying the old Honda CB125 and 2015 will be the year to pass my bike test. I have already bought a Honda Deauville so will probably end up buying bikes all year now. I fancy a Monet Goyon which will give me a french road trip as well.

I've got one car. I'm bored. No parking or anywhere to work on them sux ass big time.

This is the year (I hope) that I sort my life out a bit, at least enough to be able to live somewhere with a garage/parking so I can 'tinker'. I can't do much in one go anymore and if I overdo it, I'm off the road (physically) for a few days while my broken old body recovers.

I NEED another car or two in my life. Or a bike...

Posted

I know those feelings!  My two are all I can sensibly accommodate at the moment, although I've been up to 3 a couple of times while incoming and outgoing overlapped.  Having said that, I may be taking on a third temporarily in the near future.  Where I'm going to put it is anybody's guess.
