Decided to scratch an itch. I think they're bordering on shite now. Pressed into use as learner biffabout. Only 37600 on the clock, new fuel tank (missed the recall). Around 60% of a bag'o'sand and 58mpg from Brum to Norfolk.

Loving it so far.

Ideal!  Much better than having him/her sign their life away for a load of finance.  They should be able to learn about actual car care and maybe even real driving too.  Win-win!

Ace fun, well bought. They're a great laugh to drive and have a bit of character to them.

They're great fun and wonderfully economical. A good one puts a grin on your face, however a bad one can try your patience like nothing else.

Mine was one of the latter. It needed welding all the way around the back at 5 years old (no, it hadn't been in an accident then repaired)

It failed to start on many occasions for no reason whatsoever.

It ate clutch cables for breakfast, lunch and tea.

Typical fiat really.

I loved the one I had for a few weeks. Really fun to drive but terrible stiff gears. Didn't want to give it back.

Can't decide weather is like the cinquecento or 600 (in words) better. Can't get another as I would never sell it

I like yellow - it is a cheery colour.

I have heard this - and considered all the above in the decision to buy this one. The sills have both been replaced 2 years ago, the fail start will be a dead key. The keys have a little device in them that talks to the immobilizer - not sure how it works, but the handbook will tell me. One of my keys works, the other doesn't. Will turn over, but not start. New wheel bearings, fuel tank, new springs up front. Basically someone took great care of this - no expense spared it seems. It drives like my Mum's old R-reg Megane - curious combination of showroom condition and parking dents, lumpy at speed due to a life spent driving 8 miles a week. It is loosening up - I think it just needed to stretch its legs.

I will do the cambelt (should have been done at 5 years, but hasn't reached the 50k mileage yet) as a precaution, and give it a good service.

Then tear around the lanes like a bee with a scotch bonnet up its butt.

Needs a red door.

This is a Seicento Fiat you plonker. It was a Reliant Regal in the actual programme or something like that.

Cam belts are a piece of. Might as well do the water pump as well while you're in the wheel arch.

Aye, non start was probs the immobiliser.

Problem was, when it worked, it was a great fun thing. I've had 5 cinqs and only one Siecento but I'd have another like a shot!

Well, that IS cheerful, China ! I looked at a "S" sporting on an 03 plate in November,

the road tax was £175 ! but I could hardly fit behind the wheel, with the seat all the way back,

and i'm only 5' 10" so decided I couldn't live with it...

it was red, looked good, but the guy had it up for £875, and when I opened the tailgate, I was drenched with condensation !

Not good for Fiat Pasta panels.

Robin Reliant I think you'll find.

Princess Anne had one to take on Banger Rallies.

Anne Princess, surely?

It doesn't matter if the cambelt busts ! Just fit another when it does !

Personally, I'd rather replace the belt. Even if it doesn't destroy the engine, it's a pain in the arse as you know it'll let go at the worst possible moment. Especially if you've let your young'un out in it.

Is this the one with the 14" alloys with ridiculous sized tyres on? I have a nearly new set here if so. (175/50 14)

These are 13s. I think the Abarth spec ed had the 14s.

Now that's a proper small Italian car, none of this new, fat 500 rubbish !

Made of the thinnest metal possible and the fiddliest plastic known to man, it scores an absolute zero for perceived quality and crashworthiness. In exchange, it steers and handles beautifully and makes you feel like Ari Vatanen even if all you're doing is taking a roundabout a bit too fast, on your way to Lidl. Great stuff !

Yellow!

Yellow is win win win.

Indeed.  My daughter learnt to drive in this. Passed first time.

SWMBO's dad and his missus always had/have these in varying forms. She currently has a blue one, had a yellow 'Schumacher' edition before. Father-in-law (nearly) now has a 1.2 3 door corsa which is slowly pogweaselling...

Don't forget to shout insults at people in bus queues before getting stuck in traffic or breaking down 20 metres on.

Buswankers - brilliant episode.
