Skoda fabia s tdi 75. Basic model low power so missing trims and the spec could be a hire/lease car.

About 6-7 years ago I was driving down the A34 past the A303 junction at night when some plank in an Omega was playing at being g a copper. To try and shake this twat off I pulled in between two artics but this fool held traffic up gor about a minute until the truck behind me backed off enough for this fool to wedge himself in. I pulled into the services and twat followed me. I did a manoeuvre that lost him but I knew where he was. He must have seem me coming because he pulled away just as I gave his rear bumper a good boot. I jumped back into my 7 Series and chased the twat down the M27 before pulling off for the M271. I reported him but heard nothing.

There was one boy racer in my town who about 3 years ago had an 11 plate and brand new at the time mk8 Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S in silver (one with the standard styling kit, skirts, spoilers etc and illegal font reproduction Dalblair of Ayr Ford plates (the ones owners of 80s Staff Cossies, RS Turbos etc going for concourse look fit as they theoretically could've been fitted when their car was new but totally obviously illegal on a 2011 car) sky blue painted brake calipers and drums and aftermarket alloys, anyway he had blue flashing lights behind his grille like a cop car and blue hids like the cop Beemers and Audi traffic cars, anyway I knew it wasn't a real cop car as it wasn't a car the cops used plus it was modified and I'd seen the guy with his missus with a football top on in the chippy I delivered for, so any time he tried it to get me to move I just stayed in front, but a few other people fell for the lights and moved over for him.

Anyway one night whilst driving like a tit he lost control, rattled a Corsa D sitting at the side of the road up the are demolishing his front end, the Corsas rear and the Corsa was hit hard enough it moved and the front of it battered the arse end of the Golf parked in front. The traffics turned up (i witnessed this)and I heard in addition to doing him for dangerous driving also as a result of the plates did him for them and decided if the plates were illegal to go over the car thouroughly and found the blue lights and did him for them too, fucking brilliant!

I wonder what he actually wanted though? What's in it for him? He can't fine you, or give you a ticket, so how does he expect his scenario to play out?

Power trip? Uniform giving him some "authority" he might never have otherwise?

It could have been some Security/Immigration/other non-police officer trying it on after getting a bit irate because he didn't have enough power/talent to pass you safely.

As others have said, hopefully you got his number plate and have reported this to the real Police.

Scarily, I once had EXACTLY the same thing happen - back in 1997, in Birmingham. Chased after me, almost rammed me off the road and gave it the Police bollocks. I wasn't having any of it and we ended up having rather a row. He said I'd better watch out and that I'd be constantly getting in trouble with the Police now. They'd be watching me. I laughed and gave a load of WAT-EVS. Didn't report him to the Police. I asked if my passenger had noted his reg number and he hadn't.

Cops round here use Skoda Fabias as PCSO-wagons. No blues or twos, base spec transport devices.

Thursday evening, about 5.45pm, I had an Audi A3 pull in WAAY too close behind me in the wet on the A1 between the A64 and the M1 split going south, then immediately after a BMW 1-series came past with a "wailer" siren going, but no blue lights.  If I'd got the reg. number of the BMW I'd have phoned it in, but will be keeping an eye out for it from now on.

The regular officers I work with have a generally low opinion of PCSOs; amateur do-gooders with an attitude, etc.

If it is an offence to impersonate a police officer how do you explain PCSOs?

100 % definitely an attempted insurance scam. I believe they use stolen hire cars to commit the crime too which is exactly what your man there was driving going by what you say. Would have been a fitting end to his thwarted scam had you punched him into next week.

I'm confused (it happens) why would an insurance scammer dress up/ pretend to be a cop? Or am I missing the point?

I don't know why but I can categorically say he had Napoleon syndrome and some kind of uniform fetish lol.

Intimidation.

Dress up like police so you hand over details etc, thinking he is DA ROZZERS.

I had something similar happen to me in Liverpool, very early this year.
Thankfully no smashing of cars occurred, as i make so much noise / disturbance (Horn, Hazards the lot) ... and they flee'd

Could just be some wannabe who tried and didn't get into Hendon.

When the fixed penalty notices first came in here in NI, a couple of chancers in a maritime blue Sierra tried it on with motorists. These bluffers had managed to get hold of 2 old Royal Ulster Constabulary dress uniforms, and were pulling people for duff lights and saying that the fine had to be paid, to them, on the spot. This was back in the days when the Police in N.I. didn't wear high-vis, and most cars were un-liveried.

Wasn't long before they got pinched by an off-duty real Peeler, complete with Ruger Speed Six under his armpit.

The mrs fell for one of these insurance scams...still ongoing.... both invested in dashcams now :D

OK, I think I am getting the idea now :o

I just thought you meant he was trying to pull you over, which I thought doesn't really seem like a way to stage an accident.

I suppose it works on the idea that most people would be in such a flap after a crash they probably wouldn't look too hard at the uniform/ask for a warrant card or whatever.

Inspired by this thread I think I might dress myself up as a fake lollipop man and help people across the road without any proper authorisation to do so. Make a convincing lollipop out of a clothes prop and a dinner plate with ‘STOP’ written on it in marker pen. If any of the kids ask to see my ID I’ll just leg it.

Do you remember back in the 80s the serial killer who was doing this? The yorkshire ripper maybe?

I defo have never heard of a lollipop serial killer.

Peter Sutcliffe hired prostitutes or approached lone females

I'm sure there is an inappropriate joke in there somewhere involving children and lollipops

I (cough) found (cough) a blue light and took great pleasure in hurtling up behind cars late at night and lighting it up, when they braked and indicated we shot past them and we where all wetting ourselves laughing, this was our winter evening fun for a few weeks untill one memorable woops moment when it backfired as we tried to stop a real cop car, oh how we all lauged that cold night haha

When I first got this mark 4 Escort it was all blue, no spoiler or wheeltrims, but came with the 3i spots. As such, it was exactly the same as pretty much every soft-skin RUC car of the time. It took a few weeks before I realised why no-one would overtake me on the motorway!

I loved that wee car but there wasn't enough mig wire in the whole world to save it.

I was thinking PCSO too. I used to have a cop next door neighbour back in the days before PCSO's, then they had the 'Specials' (Not the ska band unfortunately) to do a similar job and my neighbour hated them & said most coppers do because they are more trouble than they're worth & tend to attract the wrong sort of people, namely those who either wanted to be cops and failed to get in or those who would never be considered in the first place. He relayed various tales of the stunts these 'Specials' did and that included doing traffic stops so I was wondering if this joker was doing likewise 'Exceeding his remit'. He also said that proper cops spent a load of time clearing up their mess and dealing with complaints about the 'Hobby Bobbies' conduct (pushing people around etc). Don't know if the PCSO's are different/better etc., I'd hope so.

I would have thought a force car be it panda or plastic plod would have a full compliment of wheel trims though? Coppers in Ripley had a load of base model corsa c's all in a dark green,ae06 reg and no wheel trims, just silver wheels with hubcaps like the corsa b had. Still had all of them though.

When I moved away from Kent in 2001, the Kent cops were driving silver Daewoo's (the mid-size saloon, don't recall what it was called) and trying hard to look cool in them - folk either laughed openly or shook their heads in a pitying way.
