Once was enough :-(

I drove an MGB GT once, it was not very sporty and the interior smelled of wee. That is all.

+1 for Astra 3. I liked the mark 2 though.

New Fiesta - one of the best handling in its class? I haven't tried the rest of the class but they must be utter shit

Not experiences I want to repeat anytime soon.

FSO Caro.

I know they are liked hereabouts but I drove on or two when they were new and they were fucking awful.

MK4 Astra SXI. I swapped my Saxo VTR for it about ten years ago and I was fucking gutted. Sold it to my mate who wrote it off within a few hours of the sale, but he liked it so much he went out and bought another.

Oldsmobile Ciera, a hire car I had to put up with for a week around Seattle.  It shuddered and creaked for several metres after each minor bump in the road.  Diabolical.

I've driven some remarkably mediocre cars in my time, but I'm struggling to think of one where I'd refuse the keys if offered. I even quite like MGBs.

There's very few things I've driven that have been awful, only ones I can think of are Corsa D 1.2 (accelerator is just a NVH generator) and a Citroen C1 that drove nicely enough but my hands were still vibrating from the engine hours later. Oddly I couldn't feel the wheel vibrating during the drive.

I've found Novas to be very good cars, if a rather prone to rust. Zippy 1.2 with light, responsive steering and a sharp gear change.

Suzuki Wagon R wasn't too bad to drive but ultra embarrassing to be seen in.

Astra max n/a diesel, zero steering feel and so low on power it made overtaking akin to racing a Zeppelin.

Let's face it the MGB is a British motoring icon...despite this I think the best use for them is to plant them with flowers and use to decorate olde Englishe pub gardens.

Avoid driving anything which has been well designed and well made.  That way, all inferior cars retain their character (otherwise known as faults).

VW Golf mk4 automatic 1.6. A glacier moves faster, and gallons to mile. Bastard broke down as well. Fucking VAG shit. Belongs to my sis in law, every time its in the garage, its a £500 minimum repair. Told her to bridge the fucker

I'm a bit like dollywobbler in that I've driven loads of crap but would still take the keys if offered. Saying that I could never get on with the clutch pedal in novas, bit too high, and having big feet made is awkward to push

Shitroen Paxo 1.1 West Coast, had one as a courtesy car once, fucker was that horrid pink, with a body kit on, with dealer stickers all over, pedals way too close together for my size 11 feet in steel toecaps, and it felt so fucking flimsy and cheap.

Most mediocre in it's numbness was a Mk1 Escort 1.1 2 door works pool car back in '81; vile. Why is there such a scene tax on these bland boggo standard machines? Latest frustrating mediocrity was another pool car, a recent Fiesta 4 door with a clutchless / semi-auto gear-change; between auto-shifts the car almost comes to a halt before picking up again (hope it's an individual fault, rather than an example of standard performance); potentially dangerous, definitely vile.

Vectra B - twice, gave me terrible backache both times. No idea why, nothing else bar trail bikes have.

I might regret saying this here, but a Montego. I'm sure it did have redeeming features (I seem to remember being quite impressed with a cubby hole for keeping coins in, but can't remember exactly why), but nothing which outweighed the general shitness of the thing.

For gutless shit, three cars i wish never to lay eyes on again.

Mk4 Escort 1.4 lean burn, miserable thing that was, had them by the hundred on the rental fleets.

3 cyl Corsa, fleets of the bastards used by BSM, wouldn't pull your foreskin back.

Current Fiat 500, especially when fitted with satans gearbox the wonderful automated manual.

All three of these were a nightmare to get on the top deck of a transporter, but the Fiat wears the crown of utterly-fuckin-useless-pile-of-wank, even with a run up it couldn't pull itself up onto the top deck, solution was for driver to get a run up and it would come to a grinding halt just balancing on the back of the top deck, driver would stay in car whilst one of us colleagues raised the deck to level or preferably (for safety) tilted slightly forward, then driver could drive it forward to its desired location.

Depending where on the lorry it sat, it could be sitting in flip over ''greedy bars'', even though it would be facing downhill to unload it sometimes meant ratchetting the bastard out of the greedy's while some poor bugger sat in the car, sometimes they couldn't even pull themselves out of that minor stop even facing downhill.

Even though they were diabolically awful shit, the other two could, with enough of a run up, manage to get up the deck so long as the skids were angled to give enough approach angle for the run.

Reliant Regal 3/25. Just horrible in every way. Didn't really get on with the Mazda 626 either- terminally dull and the driving position made my right shoulder go numb.

Subaru Legacy 2.0 estate. Slow, crap on fuel, frameless doors that sounded like scrap being throw into skip, gave me backache that crippled me. Reliable and could get the fridge freezer in though.

Vectra c diesel. Bland to drive with shit fiat engine. 120 PS and bankruptcy if (when) it goes wrong.

Cannot wait to get rid of mine.

Chrysler Crossfire.

The worst manual gearbox I've ever experienced, utterly hateful thing.

Sister's evil kia picanto. Fetched it back from York. Discovered it does eleventy million RPM even if you hide behind a truck. Top speed of 96 mph must be when thrown out of a plane.

Series 2A long wheelbase LandRover diesel circa 1960 model which had been (ab)used as a breakdown truck and was totally done-in. It was unbelievably gutless and you needed arm muscles like Tarzan to steer it. Truly awful.
