Robbie Coltrane - lots of 70's saggy American tat

George Cole - Jag with gaffa tape over rust areas.

Ikea founder - volvo 240

Billy Bragg - RR Classic with crumpled body work

From the web:

Mel Gibson - Toyota Cressida

Morgan Freeman - 1997 Nissan Maxima

One of my favourite rock and roll singers, Gene Vincent, apparently ran round Kent in an Austin A40 during one of his UK residence periods.   Would love to know if it was Farina flavour or an older variant.

Rumour has it that the '53 Buick he tinkered with in Mona Lisa was actually his at the time.

I probably shouldn't admit to this but while watching that children-in-need celebrity choir thingy we say Mel Ged..whatsimathingy (the one that goes with Sue from Bake off etc.) driving a battered Volvo 850 - can only assume it was her own.

...only real men can admit to watching The Choir and Bake Off on a public forum...

James 'cunt' Blunt used to have a Lada Riva 1300SL

Robbie Coltrane  still has it, although I haven't seen him driving it in yonks as he lives just along the road. I think he had a 62 series Caddy but the same, haven't seen it in years. His Chrysler Jeep is in the Riverside Museum.

Jarvis Cocker had that Imp but I seem to remember it being cubed.

Robert Plant used to smoke around in an old SD1. I remember the story gracing the front page of the Sun once. They were suggesting he was broke, he just liked the car.

Not sure what either of them drive now though.

I was going to mention him.

He also created his own car, the Rocket. It wasn't bad if I'm honest, looked like something to come out of Turin in the '70s!

Yes. Looked like this:  And here is his electric Fiat 500 too:

I seem to recall that Keith Allen (Lily's dad) said on the infotainment programme Top Gear that he gets old(ish) Jags and just runs them into the ground. Shares some of our mindset at least

I had a VW polo that was once owned by Paul O'Grady. It had been written off in a front ender.

Ted 3-2-1, Rogers ended up driving a green Fiat Mirafiori that he apparently paid £100 for.

I remember a reading about it in The Sun ( used to buy it for the Bingo honest) under the headline 'From Dusty bin to rusty tin'

Maybe not an unlikely shiter now I come to think about it.

Didn't Patrick Moore have a Triumph 2000?   Willie Rushton, the late satirical writer and some-time panellist drove a battered P4 Rover long after he could have afforded something else.   Both these gents seem to represent the archetypal owners of such cars, too.

He had a CVR(T) at his disposal when I last saw him

Gadaffi was mad for crap cars. He used to self drive around Tripoli in a battered Kia.

Must have been entirely misrepresented as an evil dictator then.

Wonder what uncle Saddam used to drive? Or nice Mr Pol Pot?

Jeremy Clarksons has a collection of his favourite cars, including a Perodua Kelisa, Volvo 340, Vauxhall Vectra and FSO Polonez, all kept hermetically sealed in a luxury car storage facility near Chipping Norton.

Jay Leno.

Apart from the usual exotic and luxury chod, he has a mind boggling array of autoshite.

He is also one of our most vociferous advocates. He said:

People who only collect the premium stuff aren't real car enthusiasts.

And:

It's much more fun to drive a slow car fast, than it is to drive a fast car fast.
