Cars you didn't know existed until very recently.

Discussion of forgotten VWs lead me to a picture of this sorry hound. We've built a car that no one wants. How on earth are we going to make it more appealling?

Well, what if we make it more wobbly and even more expensive?

I like a type 4 :(

Why they'd bother with a cabrio is anyone's guess, didn't work on a type 3 with a proper chassis/floorpan so a monocoque would be more like a floppycoque.

Skud Karoq seen this morning. Yet more proof we ran out of car names in 1992.

Aye.

Surprisingly, the Qashqai are a mountain people indigenous to south-western Iran...

This was a new one on me, Cadillac BLS, apparently made in Sweden and based on the Saab 9-3. It was a massive flop.

There's a couple on ebay with the Fiat 1.9TD motor ;)

Quote from Wikipedia 'The Renault Sherpa should not be confused with the Leyland Sherpa'.

OK, who from here made that edit...?!

The Tiuna UR-53ar50

A Venezuelan made military vehicle...

Tuina.jpg

It was apparently designed by Toyota.

It comes in may styles, open top, 'hatchback' pick up and my favorite is the Gun Car.

I cant seem to link the photo for the 'Gun car', but if you google the car and look threw you'll see it. The Gun sticks threw a slot in the windscreen!

I had assumed it would be an M60 or something but it looks like cannon?

Fairly normal practise for a 106mm recoiless rifle.

From what I can figure out it's effectively a rebadged Maruti 800/Suzuki Alto. I know next to diddly squat about Chinese cars.

I am in my 5th week out here in China and after such a long break from the place I recognize about 20% of the cars on the road here. As we are looking to buy a family car for the in-laws I am becoming a guru on the subject. I will have a few days spare once I get back to USA this week and will compile a summary of what is what. Including a Borgward! I kid you not.

The Borgward BX7 (courtesy of China Tom), https://www.borgward.com/company/

The BX7 (there's also a BX5) -

Have they actually bought the rights to Borgward or is it the usual Chinese 'fuck you' on the subject of IP and trademarks?

No, it's all legit. The 'Borgward' name was bought by Christian Borgward (grandson of the founder) and the new company was set up in Stuttgart.

The cars are made in China by Beiqi Foton Motor, a subsidiary of BAIC, one of the more respected Chinese manufacturers.

Looking at their website Borgward seem to be establishing themselves in mainland Europe and are spreading to the Middle East.

I saw this in the Canadian Automotive Museum, not a thing I had encountered before....

I thought it was an Apal until I read it up.

Another application for the Cleon-Fonte!

They appear to be two different cars, the blue one has a few Ford bits but the red has a different body.

The video tells the story of the Th!nk company, the red one is a 2nd generation made after Ford sold off the company.

You can see the similarities in the roof frame, wipers etc.

Aaah that explains it.... Can't watch the video right now.

Love the guy on Facebook wanting "offers" but he's not gonna give it away and reckons one in a museum is valued at £10,000
