What even is the Vauxhall?

Vauxhall Adam (hence the linked plate) - attempt by GM Europe (RIP) to introduce a premium supermini to take on the Bini, Fiat 500.

Weirdly, I kinda like them.

Thanks to the shite picture thread, I now have a hat-trick plethora of previously unknown Ladas;

If Skoda and Dacia can be re-invented, is there a possibility of seeing new Ladas on Britain's roads?

This is just a rebadged Logan MCV, first generation. For the second (current) generation, feast you eyes here.

I kinda like it too, but Adam is a stupid name for a car.

"Coming to a showroom near you, the new Ford Craig. Garunteed to expose its arse crack when trying to fix your leaking kitchen sink."

Looks like their take on the original Ford Ka.

Probably made perfect sense in Germany, a bit like the Ferrari Enzo .

It's like how Nissan tried to give its new range of executive saloons a sophisticated name but ended up calling them Cedric and Gloria.

Perfectly acceptable for Japan, but a bit odd for the UK.

Exactly so - I understand it was a nod to Adam Opel, the founder of Opel cars.

A courageous choice, nonetheless... Vauxhall Adam makes no real sense.

That's why the Karl (Adams son) was remained the Viva here.

You know I think this had all been on here before??

And built in Eisenach, the birthplace of Wartburg cars.

Surely this should be the Ford Henry?. How about an Austin Herbert, Morris William Viscount Nuffield or Volkswagen Adolf?

Those 4x4 Lada lash ups were new on me, and now have a massive want for the Samara shaped one

The adam is one of quite a short list of Vauxhall’s that don’t end in a . Makes a good challenge in the drinking game circle of death to name them all

Posted

The Adam has the worst touch screen ever made... in a showroom. I can't wait for a £3 raffle in 20 years when it doesnt work at all.

Adam?  When subsequent revisions get sufficiently larger, they'll rename it the Hoss,

Now imagine one with a wrecked Mustang V8 engine.

I’d prefer my Mustang V8 engine to be fully functional.

Volkswagen Ferdinand sound much better anyway. Especially compared to T-ROC

Thinking about it, we're both wrong. The Volkswagen company was set up, in 1937, by the German Labour Front (or Deutsche Arbeitsfront, often abbreviated to DAF). So strictly speaking, we should really be looking forward to a Volkswagen Deutsche Arbeitsfront or maybe the VW DAF (but that would cause copyright problems).

However, the idea for a peoples car was enthusiastically supported by that well known small Austrian and Ferdinand Porsche was only the designer of the car not the founder of the company so perhaps the VW Adolf is closer to the rule set by the Opel Adam than a VW Ferdinand.

The Hillman Trimp.

Less than 25 built, a mix of saloons, coupes (Trilettos), and vans.

Something that appeared to be a Range Rover Evoque Convertible overtook us on the A27 yesterday. We both burst out laughing - genuinely one off the most ridiculous looking cars I've ever seen.

I like it, because it’s ridiculous.

That's exactly what it was. Convertible SUVs are a thing now, don't ask why as I haven't the faintest idea.

It's one of those cars I do know exists but wish I didn't. Have the eye bleach at the ready before looking at this picture.
