French font does not make your British number on your rhd 2cv look French. It makes it look shit, OK?

But if the plates in question were made for your Dyane in France years ago by a very accommodating key/heel/plate concession bloke at E.Leclerc who reconfigured his machine just for you at no extra charge to bash out the plates while you did your shopping, that's OK?

Right?

Dammit I knew I'd offend someone.

No it isn't OK in my book ;)

but there again I suffer no delusions that anyone should give a flying foof about what think... I don't expect anyone to subscribe to my opinions. Your ride, your way etc etc :)

Anyway if it did matter you'd be exempted by the "massive Draig Goch clause" ;)

You could never offend me, Louise - you are a friend and you like 2CVs.  And I have a copy of THAT PHOTO...

Moggie with correct rounded corners as described above, plus fapworthy non-reflectiveness:

I have a bit of a thing for 1980s VW/Audi plates, that had the text set a bit higher up on the backing plate and the dealer logo below, plus rounded corners, all then set into a black plastic surround.  This is the only example I can find on my Flickr stream and it's a bit of a rubbish photo:

How about some anachronistic raised digit truck shite action? The bentness just adds to its charm.

Apparently Hanson Bricks still had a working plate making machine and a load of digits in the late 90s so they just carried on using it until their stock ran out.

The red Irish plates are the winners for me, can we have moar of them pls?

It's not just the number plate which in itself is pretty special, but it's the car it's on and that massive looking L plate that makes this for me.  A regular plate wouldn't do in this tableau, it has to be a stick on one.

Vulga, where did you grab that photo from? Possibly something I've posted in the past?  Would be very interested if it wasn't me but from another source as that L plate was probably put on that car for my dad.

My own input.

Excellent thanks!  There's a picture of my dad fettling his Norton (177MPH) .  I've probably heard/read some of those stories but nice to come across it on line.  My dad died in '96 but we're still in touch with Jerry and normally see him at Goodwood events.

Note the felt pen 8, was running around as 844 for a while, until I noticed the Tax disc said 884. Background is gloss white Dulux.

All the above - Great Stuff!    I especially like the bollock chopper on the Honda, Southampton 1972 possibly Rye's.  Anyway here are some of my shed ornaments, all came on cars I owned except the 1959 Ontario plate which I found in a hedge in Canada (never stop looking in undergrowth.....)

Hang on. Doesn't this mean you have to know someone at least equally weird? In real life I mean. As in away from the internet?

do you find you win this particular game a lot of the time?

;P

Haha I know as shocking as it is people who frequently visit this site speak to real life peoples and don't get locked up for it, would you believe one of my real people friends is on here as well ;-) mrs fordperv is good at spotting them while out and about as well so she is a worthy opponent, its a bit of fun to break the monotony of the sea of plastic cars not at all geeky like train spotting

Local registration to me, this. It does add something for me to see a car which is still near its original home.

What's that then, a local hair stylists?
