Bloke in the local Tyre&Exhaust centre kept telling me one day it was defo an SDi. Right ok whatever can I just have two new tyres please?

I never argue with know-it-alls, just let them think they know best. One day it'll come back and bite em.

Nurnburing

Nuberg

Nuremberg (!)

Or for those who know they are shit

While I'm on a roll, in terms of car adverts:

Brought

Your when 'you are' is meant

Same for they are

Bumbers

Layland, nope

'Perjoe' for Peugeot

F**k the lot of them.

Opel Adam Nuremberg - a nice historical special edition. In black with red and white highlights.

Didn't they also make a Rally version?

A friend and I have a long-running argument over Peugeot. I say per-zhow, he say pew-joe. It's a stalemate so far.

Vauxhall themed here - The 'Irmscher' named accessory parts - referred to as irmisher, irmsher or, strangely, urmusher?

Years ago a friend swore blind he saw a small ad in his local paper for a TRIUMPH SODOMITE SPRINT

Was this true or made up? I guess the predictable answer (I'm sure you're ahead of me) is 'Buggered if I know'

Rovar/Rovir Stirling for Rover Sterling.

To be honest, even if you can't spell, at least take a peak at the rear of your car as at least the correct spelling of the motor your selling.

Anyone want to buy a Moriss Miner? (Also saw Morris Mini Miner - that one was in a classic car mag FFS!)

Or a Sitrun Zanther?

Another legendary one that I've never seen but others tell me they have is a Vulva 240 estate........... (add jokes of your choice here!)

Wolsey.   I mean....its not a bloody cardigan is it?

I once read a book by Bruce Robinson, of Withnail/Killing Fields fame, where the family car was always referred to as a Wolsey. Apparently Robinson is very poor at spelling but you would have thought his proofreader or editor would have noticed.

My personal favourite is Vauxhall Ventura, I'm sure I've read that more often than the correct version.

As for pronunciation of Audi, I always thought it was 'ow dee' but recently a German passenger was telling me about his new 'awe dee' A4, he also pronounces Porsche as 'paw she' though so perhaps he's not really German.

When my brother bought his e34 M5 , the ad. mentioned the Nuremberg suspension . When he made a joke of it to the vendor it went straight over his head..

Audi is pronounced "Ow-dee" - it's the Latin equivalent of the German dialect word "horch", meaning 'listen'. And the surname of August Horch (of Nazi staff car fame) who formed Audi after his company Horch was bought out by a hostile management takeover.

And yes, Porsche is pronounced "por-sha" in German.
