Another gubberment initiative to spy on your friends and work colleagues (assuming you have access to their driver number and NI number and postal code .)

Having trouble remembering all those speeding points?

Worry no more

Most employers will have these pieces of information.    Why not name your house "Fuckoffnosybosstwat" for DVLA purposes and let those frigs in HR know how you feel.....

May be being Mr Thicky here... But why would anyone want, or need to go online to check their own driving record?

My ex colleague called me to find out if his car was insured yesterday as he couldn't remember.

Turns out it expired two weeks ago. This is the same colleague who forgot to tell his insurers about an accident three weeks before renewal, and also that he had nine points. When he admitted it they cancelled his policy on the spot and he had to get another one which cost six times the original. It is safe to say he is a lovely bloke but we are unlikely to see him on here any time soon

I may, in turn, be Mr Paranoid and my less than serious suggestion masks this possibility.   But I reckon it will get more use from potential employers to see if you have either fibbed about your entitlement / sanitation of licencery or put yourself in job jeopardy and in line for cheap get-rid-ability.   Why else chose to use NI for identity?

Yep, it'll be useful for employers. Also, car rental companies could ask for your NI card when collecting a car - quick check to make sure you are being honest!

Have to see if my new gaffer at the van hire knows about this.  It'll save a load of arseache ringing the DVLA when we get punters in who can't find the paper bit of their license.

Doesn't work with my Northern Ireland licence number, They'll need to get their finger out, since Swansea are supposed to be dealing with ours now.

I've done it and it's said that all my points have expired so I IZ WELL APPY

Tried it..........I have an HGV 1 (as was anyway) but have not done any driver CPC stuff...........it doesn't seem bothered??? Anyone know the exemptions on this?

I read that the insurance industry pushed for this as to many drivers lie to get cheeper insurance.

Are you allowed to ask about someone elses licence?

It may be like ASKMID where you have to declare you are asking about your own insurance.

I like it, like the new online tax/MOT service it works well and offers useful information.  Also, this seems like a good offer.

Interesting. I have to renew my plastic licence in June next year. Hadn't even thought about that.

I have to renew my photo licence in April 2014. Oh, poo.

It is handy that it gives you a wordy bit telling you what you can drive. It's not a bad explanation of B for example, trailer lighter or equal to car weight and 3500kg MAM.

I don't understand how I have BE provisional though. Does that mean I can drive a >3.5t car+trailer combo if someone with me has full BE?

I have to renew mine in 2011, apparently. How is that possible?
