So... what's happened to the Chrysler Delta?

Alfa Guiletta - mmm lovely thing, way too not shite for me.

Fiat Bravo - Meh.

Chrysler/Lancia Delta - Yes please. A car only its mother could love. Utter shite, an ugly Guiletta. What not to like. I rather have one of these than that god awful Dacia thing.

I spotted a very tidy example on the M1 Hemel the other day that had been retro-fitted with Lancia grille and badging...

Then I noticed these are heading for the £2k point and could find enough coin in the pocket for one to replace the leggy and dependable Alfa 156 Wagon daily ...and the Autoshite £1k for a 159 thread is already running

So what are experiences of these Chrysler Deltas made at the Cassino Lancia plant?   Depreciation has been wonderfully horrific and therefore shiteable to an old italoshite skinflint Lancia fancier such as me

I'm pondering looking at this one, as local

It's gopping at the front and the rear isn't clever either, but time has been kind(?) so perhaps 2500 buys it as he's had it just a month and wants shot perhaps.  Not sure on the colour though, perhaps one of the beige metallics is more in keeping with the neighbourhood.  What am I saying?  There are bugger-all to choose from...  1 on eBay, 2 others on 'trader, 3 on mongtree. That's it.

[before it veers off, no, I don't want a 320d instead because I live too close to Luton and can't be arsed with the hassle and worry]

Soz, but I wouldn't own anything as hideous as that.

Every time I saw it sat outside my house a bit of me would die.

Grade a modern shite these . They're not pleasant on the eye but don't let that stop you.

Also your link doesn't work / you've already bought it.

Uglier than a fight at a pikey wedding.

I'd never looked at them but I've just been on Chrysler's website and I actually like them! Quick glance at Autotrader suggests they don't have Mini residuals so I can't wait to pick one up in a couple of years.

Two tone paint! Brown patterned seats! Confusingly marked speedo literally positioned on the passenger side!

Please put a Bentley badge on the grille!

That's truly horrible; why hasn't someone bought one already?

Whoever styled that clearly saw a Ssanyong Rodent and thought "now there's a good looking car...".

I think the Delta's GR8 though, when they're below a grand I'll be all over one.

Three years on, I'd like to retract that statement.

Thanks well spotted except it's miles away and somehow got into a browser cookie on this box...  I do like to play identity fakery with websites, although this one is intriguing

That seems to have been Lancia's philosophy since the mid 90's

They do make a Sungyanyonglong Rectum & Rhombus look almost pleasant. Crap is an understatement

See, I quite like the exterior styling. It's got some decent lines to it, doesn't look as haphazard as things like the entire Ssangyong range.

But those seats, cor blimey. Make Project Drive look like the interior of Buckingham Palace. Some sort of bri-nylon and PVC mix by the looks of things.

I like them. They also have a sliding rear seat.

Not only that, Honest John's review says:

The rear seats don’t just slide, they recline 25 degrees backwards too

Which will be GR9 for the wedding anniversary night I've got coming up

The SR has Alcanatara with leather inserts

Because Lancia.

It's worse inside !

What, in the flesh or just from that photo?

For when you want them to be neither fully wipe-clean (the only advantage of leather I can see), nor fully warm.

Sit on them in shorts during summer and at least you'll only lose some of your flesh though. And the fabric will mop the weeping sores up.

Surely it displays an effortless timeless elegance sadly missing in most modern cars?

I remember years ago on a Lancia stand at a car show seeing a bloke lording it over everyine else because he'd imported a left hand drive Lancia version of this. I remember wondering how fizzing he must have been when they then became available for sale in the UK, and with a Chrysler badge.

Cant think of a better embodiment of modern shite though.

Nah, that's the 300C. Sold as the Lancia Thema on the continent.

That's why Italians buy BMW's, Audis and Mercs now.

Are these just a Fiat Bravo underneath? Getting parts might be fun* given Chrysler’s given up on the UK and Lancia never even made it. I would much, much rather have a Guiletta but they are not at that price level yet.

Vehicles based on Fiat C2 platform

Specific parts hassle I can endure a tad more than the average Joe as I have had plenty of motors that need that extra bit of effort.  I had a Lancia Trevi as late as 2011, and a Wolseley Landcrab a few months prior; for starters.  I am a sucker.

Yes I would much rather have the Cherokee Giulietta too but they are holding values (still £4k+ same age) as folks seem to like them... Including my neighbour who paid £10k for the privilege and has told me how much he prefers it over his earlier Audi A4.  (Which is some statement).

Probably looking at this Lancia Chrysler on Sunday if it's still there.  Depends on hangover condition.

I saw a Chrysler Delta minicab in Scarborough today, outside the train station.

Sorry, as a long time Lancia worrier, I can't agree; it's hideous!
