Hi all,

been lurking on this wonderful site for a while and decided it was time to join up and say hello.

I've not owned much in the way of shite but there have been a few much loved (by me, perhaps less so by Joe Public) oddballs in the not so distant past.

One or two eagle eyed shiters may recognise this particular car. Owned from 2.5 years old with 18k, left my ownership is November 2011 with 62k on having been a garden ornament for some time. Was a brilliant little car and just needed someone with fresh enthusiasm to sort a few issues out. Luckily it lives on down south somewhere as far as I know.

This was an absolutely brilliant car. In the family from 1 year old, taken from 15k to 94k miles with only maintenance and a clutch slave cylinder. Traded in with another family car when I decided I could do without wheels for a bit. Dealer scrapped it straight away. Would never have let it go that way if I'd known :-( Wish I'd known about this site at the time!

On to the current fleet. I've owned this for about 18 months or so now and absolutely love it. I'd wanted a mk1 Focus for ages and found this at a dealer 2 miles from home. Needed a few little bits doing when I got it (few broken bits of trim, needed a service/cambelt) but *touch wood* has been zero trouble. Can certainly see why they were so popular.

This is owned by my OH but I nick it regularly. Owned for about 8 years now. Just tipped over 50k miles which apparently is high for a Smart so we'll see how it goes. Regular oil changes, very few short trips and not leaving it in auto mode where it will happily rev itself to 5000rpm on a stone cold engine should help longevity!

And last, but by no means least, is this. Love this car, owned by me and my Dad. Its been a rolling restoration over a number of years. Owned for about 14 years now, always been a local (Cheshire) car. Hoping to get the miles up a bit on this in 2014.

Welcome along. My cousin's wife has a T reg Matiz which she loves to bits. It needed a head gasket about 2 years ago but is still going.

Ive always fancied a MK1 Focus as my mate had 2 when they were new and they went brilliantly.

Love the Minor too!

The only car I've ever bought new was a Matiz. I opted for blue, but always regretted not going for that delicious bronze colour instead. Metallics were even free at the time!

Welcome.

Welcome.  The mere fact that you've described a Mitsubishi Carisma as an absolutely brilliant car, in public and without irony, shows you've come to the right place.

Welcome along fellow Cheshireite. I like your Morris even though the background picture is saddening after the closure of that brilliant museum.

Welcome to autoshite.

A quick question - which outfit are you wearing - are you a cowboy today or an astronaut?

You should have kept the Carisma as a souvenir, to help you remember...

Welcome aboard!

Welcome. :) I've always like that bronze/copper colour on the Matiz. A lighter shade of it was used on late 1990s Puntos too.

Welcome to 52 Festive Road.

An Autoshite initiation tradition.

If you carry on posting, buy some ill advised rusty old cars, do them up then fail to sell them, buy some more etc, you will be fine*.

Welcome to the forum!

:-)

Edit. Unless you are a Smellmycheese alike for example, in which case you will possibly get an internet slapping....

I like the focus - considering one for my other half.

Only thing putting me off is the thought of trying to sell her fiesta zetec privately.

Welcome :)

The Matiz looks suspiciously like the one featured in Car Mechanics a while back ;)

Thanks all for the welcomes :-D

A crying shame that museum had to close. Always liked chatting to the owner there, clearly a true enthusiast!

Just the suit and bowler hat today

Bingo! Well spotted. I was really pleased they agreed to take it on. Was sad to see it go but pleased I didn't have to take my chances on ebay!

One of our (Autoshite) number interviewed Jim as he was in the throes of shutting the place. I met him a few times and he's a smashing bloke, he just got shafted by the waterboard and couldn't afford the maintenance the place required.

Where about in Cheshire are you?

Yeah, nice guy. We visited not too long before it closed. Such a shame.

I'm just outside Handforth in the east of the shire.

Welcome to us.

I'd like to see the left side of your vehicles too. Did you ever venture round that side?

Ha, never noticed I'd done only one side! Those pictures were taken over a period of about 6 or 7 years too!
