My mate sold his one 2 weeks ago. This is the message he received from the chap who bought it.

TBH though the buyer sounds like the usual sort of tit that seems to buy cars these days. Apparently he kept showing Paul photos of his BMW 6 series with the number plate 650 BM like he was meant to be impressed.

The car was sold with a full MOT which was done the day before, they guy drove it for 25 minutes and then drove it for half and hour. Paul just told the guy to jog on.

Quel sort de bellend.  If your friend needs any free legal help, bung him my way  (assuming you vouch for him as an honest chap).   I assume that the buyer has gone away now, but sometimes these bingobrains are persistent.

DW - buy the best Lancia you can afford. Most may be a 4-pot, but the sound of the Lancia twin-cam is awesome.

A Pug 306 might fit your bill, from a time when Peugeots looked nice, especially the 3 door versions.  I'm not sure it's interesting enough, however.

As we often have similar ideas for cars in our bucket list, are there any from here you fancy?

Get a Lancia Lybra. It´s the same platform as the Fiat Bravo/Brava/Marea/156, but a lot rarer, more obscure and it´s got this interieur:

Nice!

Isn't it sold as seen if a private sale, buyers only really have a comeback to dealers?

Surprisingly nimble actually for a biggish motor. I often had to take mine around the lanes of Somerset and Dorset and it lapped them up.

I live in rural Lincolnshire had found the 166 to be okay on the lanes round these parts. Fuel consumption was ruinous though. And being a saloon, it wasn't terribly useful either which is why it was replaced with the 156 Sportwagon.

If a seller deliberately or carelessly misrepresents something about a car, there may (I say may, not must) be comeback, but a sale by someone other than in the course if a business is not subject to the statutory implied term as to quality.   The old principle of caveat emptor applies in most cases.

Some buyers still try it on.

Some marvellous suggestions in this thread. I like a lot of them. I shall get saving and we'll see what I end up with. No doubt something utterly hopeless.

Hey Dollwobs, I've taken some rubbish photos of my 156 Sportwagon so that you can see what one looks like in the Wild, rather than in advert photogs etc.  Shall I bang some up?    NB car not washed since 1947, and interior littered with assorted disgusting garage food wrappers and other biohazards.

And Dollywobler did cry forth - "Suggest me a car, less than 13 cubits by 7 cubits and capable of 40mpg and it must be interesting"

And the good people of Autoshite did suggest every single fucking car under £500 on eBay

And Lo did Dollywobler come forth with a piece of Yank tin the size of a Whale that uses raw polar bears for fuel.

Hmmm....

That's looks like the unreliable, ugly result of a Xsara estate and an Ypsilon having a drunken fumble behind a skip. Yuck! DW should definitely buy one.

I like the Lancia. Bet it's absolute arse though in which case someone needs to buy one and report.

2.4 JTD ? 5 cylinder 20V ? Apparently fecking brilliant engines and a straight fit into the Multipla mk1.

A Kia Opirus would be a good bet too...

So gents, the design brief is that it must combine the worst features of the S type Jag with some aftermarket Merc-a-like headleads and for the wheels, I'll just get my daughter to scribble something down.

That Kia is the most eye busting, goppingly fook oooogly car that I have ever beheld.  Top shiting to anyone with the cojones to own one.  At least when you sit in it you can't see it, I suppose.

Sterling with a dildo glued to the bonnet too big? Its red ( the car, not the dildo).

Dildo's, always dildo's. I am detecting a theme within your posts. It is worrying.

Dolly, I've noticed a few recommendations of cars you've owned in the past.

In order to avoid these suggestions, you should put together a list of all the cars you've owned.

This list should be in a format that's searchable using various fields, I'm not sure whether you wish to use a downlaoadable spreadsheet or create a database and give us online access?

The fields should include, but not be limited to, make, model, engine, transmission, age, date of purchase, length of ownership, cost to buy, selling price, overall running costs, pleasure of ownership, fuel economy, colour, ease of purchase, ease of sale etc.

Once this exists, anybody wishing to suggest a car can consult your list and consider whether their option differs enough from your previous vehicles, how easy it would be for you to purchase and how much you'd enjoy it before suggesting a Horsey Horseless with a smaller white Peugeot 405 hammered over the top of it.

Sadly, I've lost my spreadsheet. It's over 60 vehicles now I think, but 14 of those are 2CVs, and five are BXs.

I'm visiting a Landy specialist on Tuesday. The point of the mission is to see if it's realistic to sort out some of its random drivetrain noises so it can (temporarily) be my distance vehicle. I still haven't used it on a long journey since it threw a wheel bearing three miles into the trip to Shitefest. WCPGW etc.
