Yeah, great for an attempt on the Fiat 600 Jolly land speed record. ~30k engine from competition car that was pretty uncompetitive in its day in obscure ~30k Fiat with naff seats and no roof. Says in there that it was for use on boats? WTF?

I thought the Fer-Datsun wasn't that bad to be honest! I mean, it's not like those shit 'Audi TT lookalike' crap-heaps is it?

The price of that VW isn't so ridiculous. It would cost well over £6500 to return a scened or neglected example to that condition.

I see he's now discounted it to a far more reasonable £4500  Also, it looks lke a bit of a heap. Even with one of the zeroes removed he'll struggle. I'll give him a can of Asda smart price cola, a broken sierra tail light lens and Now! thats what I call music 9 on cassette for it.

Thats fairly steep but I wouldn't say it was so ridiculous it qualifies for the bargins thread really... I've seen worse ones advertised for around that mark before. no idea what 'aculated condition through out' means though, any guesses?

Aculate definition: * Having a sting; covered with prickles; sharp like a prickle. * Having prickles, or sharp points; beset with prickles. * Severe or stinging; incisive.Hmmm, that didnt help did it. Or that Datsun is incredibly sharp to sit in.....

Could be for medical reasons? /\

Aye, probably some sort of fucking mental health issues if he thinks that's worth two large.

what would you say its worth as old recovery trucks seem to fetch good money, i quite fancy a Cf i tried to contact the guy with the green one on the bay but he never returned my emails or answered his phone

For that one? In all honesty a grand would be a good result for him, £850 would be somewhere nearer it's real value though.Cliche I know but if you want to get one you really should be aiming for as late a Mk3* as possible Transit, 1993 onwards. Anything much older will be pretty much shagged and unreliable unless you strike lucky.3.5 tonners are the way to go unless you like pissing about with tacho's and 'O' licences. You'd get a fairly decent old 7.5 tonne Merc (tough as old boots), a 'proper' Cargo or a Leyland Daf 45 (six cylinder best, Cummins engines are fucking ace) for about £1500**.Spec lifts only aren't that much use due to restrictions (damaged cars, rwd autos, 4x4s etc) and you need something with a decent winch and slide away ramps. The CF would probably be ok if you don't plan on travelling that far but bollocks to long distance trips in one of them.Oh, and whatever you do don't believe 99.9% of people who say their trucks are MOT exempt because the vast majority of them are not.*I call any Transit after a Mk2 and up to the latest style Mk3.**The tacho laws changed a while back and you can't go more than something like 60 miles from your base without a tachograph card in now.

yeh trannys are plentyfull but not my cup off tea i like the look off the CFs and my fither ran them when i where a lad so they kinda apeal more to me than the fords  im a bit miffed the chap from the bay didnt get back to me as that CF was tax free so tha would have been a bonus as it would hardly be used anyway  mabe i should just get a bigger trailer.

+1 for the Chester City fan. A remarkably accurate description of HGV regs! Another thing to note on Early non PAS tranny spec lift units is that they sometimes come with big fuck off counterbalance weights behind the front bumper making the steering feel like you are driving a PAS equipped van with no fluid in it!Reversing a spec lift truck with a car on the back is more difficult than parking a caravan or a trailer. The pivot points are different and the unit behaves like a small HGV drawbar combination. Even some hardened artic drivers I know will shy away from driving a drawbar/wagon and drag unit.IIRC Iveco daily spec lift units are plated at 6.3 tonnes so an O licence would be needed.
