ebay 'BARGAINS'

Fupping hate this just now. Dreaming fanboys thinking a non-Gsi Corsa is worth £££s. This guy's a right stargazer. Bear in mind that even the very best C20LET Redtop examples will struggle to make 3 bags, this guy thinks he can ask 3 and a half large for one with a 1.4 8v conversion with Yamaha bike carbs. 130bhp is not even formally backed up.

Not the most popular engine, but condition & low miles mean that it's surely worth - what, £1600 - £2000?

Keep going...

Those C8/807s seem to be more more synonymous with cambelt related hari kari than the K-Series is with you-know-what. I took one in PX recently that had cambelt failure twice within its warranty period.

Posted

I believe they have some hilarious design flaw where you have to remove the injectors to get the rocker cover off, the injectors are nigh on impossible to remove and I think this may mean you can't do the cambelt, therefore belt roulette leading to eventual failure.

There are an outfit on ebay that specialise in removing these injectors and repairing the borked engines, they offer to buy fucked ones so it may be worth 2-300 to them.

I think it was water dripping off the scuttle that was rusting the tensioner/ idler bearings wasn't it

Posted

The way to do these is attach an injector to an engine crane then take the weight of the car on it.

Leave for couple of days, by then it should of come out ☺

Seriously

OK, it's a Mk 2 Escort so it isn't going to be cheap. But it's not rally prepared and only has a mildly tuned 1.6 crossflow in it.

What d'you think - about £8,000?

Oh no.

In spite of the wrong grille & the irritating black & silver plates on a 1978 car, this semi-literate clown wants... wait for it... £30,000 for it.
