DATSUN SUNNY 1.5 GL

O.k so it's only done 33k and does look clean but is it really worth £1995?

Expensive it may be, but it's great to see such a clean one. Seeing that interior takes me back to my days of having a coupe then a saloon later on.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hire-your-Classic-Car-to-TV-Film_W0QQitemZ130300735509Let me get this straight, I pay you £50 and you might find someone who possibly wants to hire my car? Is it done that way, I've no experience of this it just seems a bit like a scam to me, surely if the agency is that good they would be happy with their cut of the fee. (i.e. paid on results)In the past I have hired props (furniture/lamps/phones/tvs etc.) to TV and theatre, no-one asked me to pay them for the privilege.

Luckily it's been removed. I would have thought it's been seen as what it is. SCAM. I don't know anybody who charges to register a car, including me. I charge for the use of your car, pay you a fee, and everybody's happy.

Anyone fancy a Golf?

Can't deny it looks smart and I'm sure it's all genuine etc. but the prices of these "swallowtail" things are just comical lately. £12000! All that for a different back end. If the seller gets that much for it, I can't blame him at all but it's a lot of money for something your gran would have used to pop to Morrisons in.

Was just gonna post about this'un..... Please tell me it's not that one that went for a grand in standard nick a while back at that auction??

Funny old world, that VW scene.Anyway, the green FWD Sunny previously up for £1995 is now down to £1495. Interestingly, similar money to what I'm spending on my latest (sensible) acquisition, but I fear it wouldn't been quite appropriate for SL family needs...

No. That was the one I saw at a house I surveyed, which then went to auction at Norwich. If it had been a swallowtail I would have found some money to buy it direct, and I'd now be living in Barbados. That one was on an 'S' I think.

What's different about the back end?

Errrrrr....

These early ones have a 'purer' look about them with smaller rear lights and chrome trim, but nothing special really.

Posted

Ah, how could I have missed that! I saw a Mk1 Golf on a 96/97 P plate the other day. It was RHD and I've a feeling it had the early rear lights too. How can this be?

Posted

Could be a South African Import, They still make them over there branded as a CitiGolf.

Although they have the later lights.

It may have had the later lights actually. The driver did at least one full circuit of the roundabout I was trying to join so I didn't take in all the details.

Ah - thats right.I didn't know what a swallowtail was until there was a white one for sale on RR a few weeks back. Surprised no-one is repressing the rear panel.

There was a mega scene swallowtail 4 door briefly for sale on RR before the ever defensive 'very unique' VW scene crowd had the ad pulled.Mainly because people were rocking up and saying yeah, lovely car but you want 12 FUCKING GRAND????!!!For a 1500 Mk 1 on Zenders, with air suspension. OK, so not as stupid as that 1.1 that was completely standard without an MOT for £5,500, but still mental.

I'd pay more for a standard car with no MOT than I would for one that's been buggered about with.

 I don't understand these 'scenes' at all, if even 1.3 slusher versions of a car I like were priced at such extortionate levels, I'd just find something less fashionable to buy.Who on earth is buying them? Rich rally drivers for re-shells?

Maybe one for Ebay fools thread.

This was under kit-cars. Seller has very specific ideas about what he will swap for, but in the listing title he has written CANT SWAP? whatever the fuck that means...

Swapping isn't allowed on eBay so some sellers put something like that in the auction to show that they actually are open to the idea of a swap but don't want eBay to think they are! If you see what I mean.
