Dollywobbler's Daihatsu - MOT of fail

Yes, it does have a bit of the classic rot around the rear windows. To be expected really after sitting outside for five years. A bit annoying frankly that he puts his 11-plate Astra in the garage! He has a massive parts stash too, though I've nowhere to store it so I'd have to just offer to buy what I need as I need it. I'm going to go and have another look at it later.

One litre, three banger?

Choice of champions would obviously be a Corsa C 1.0. I'd suggest a silver 2001 model, three doors with no silly boy racer bits. Oddly enough, I just happen to know of one for sale somewhere!

ANUVA PRESOILED CAR FROM CAVCRAFTâ„¢ perchance?!

Ambassadors have been creeping up in value over the last few years, and judging by the grille that one looks like a decent spec as well. You can't lose at £200.

I think the lack of interest is due to the location and the fact it's a non runner.

I can be realistic about a restoration, using the Mk1 BX as an example. I got it roadworthy, then sold it as a going concern. Lost money on it, but not much really, and did get a lot of satisfaction (not least from winning two prizes with it, both for worst vehicle!) from it. We'll see...

According to Cartell, the Ambassador is a 2.0 HL Auto. I always thought that style of grill was only used on the VDP? Can anyone confirm for sure?

Taking on the Ambastardor would secure your place, once and for all, amongst the top rank of Autoshite legend.

You should buy that Onslow Cortina estate I posted on the ebay site.

I must be getting old. That Ambassador really floats my boat. Dear god....

Yes. But only if you don't get bored and sell it in a week ;)

Actually, this is a rare example of a car I've tried to sell BEFORE I've bought it. So I blame you lot for ignoring it first time around. Can't get hold of the chap at the moment. Guess some folk still do that churchy stuff on a Sunday.

In other news, sad to report that my friend's Espace III has died after the top end of the engine decided to go all Salvador Dali. I was hoping that car would make an appearance at Shitefest '14. Denied again!

Yes. Also the wrong side of the country. And I dislike the driving position in the 206 very much. And the wipers.

That Micra SR mentioned a couple of pages ago would be ideal, I could cycle round there  and check it out for you (please, pretty please!).

Bugger. Too late to save the Ambassador. It was scrapped last month. That's rather sad. He scrapped all of his parts stash too due to lack of interest. Apparently, he did put it on Ebay but I must have missed that.

I'm going to view the City Rover later. If I can get hold of the chap, I may go and look at a relatively local Panda project too.

Don´t get another project, put the money into the Land Rover Discovery and the Citroen 2CV to make them reliable and dependable motors. I know, "reliable" and "dependable" in one sentence with "Land Rover" and "Citroen" is a bit odd, but anyways...

So my suggestion: Don´t get another half-arsed project, improve your existing cars and maybe there will be some money left to put aside for not-so-sunny-days.

There is one way to make the landrover and citroen more reliable and dependable - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1998-ldv-recovery-truck-beavertail-banana-engine-T-T-/200968454402?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ecaa74102

The Fiat Panda is a contender, but only if it's cheap. The City Rover was absolutely dreadful. I found it quite funny. It was actually even worse than I expected. Bowls along quite merrily, but enough wind noise to make you think a door had been left open, the driver's electric window switch fell apart when I pressed it and the air bag light was on (even though it has a fresh MOT...). Quite charming in a way, but I doubt I'll go there.
