You're really not missing much!!

Bring one anyway, I'll pay you for it, wrap it in foil and take it home for the wife as a treat*

actually fuck bringing pasties , Cornish rattler cider should make for an interesting weekend

I've tried it and clearly remember the evening, therefore it is a drink for girls.

Please bring proper blokey pasties.

I will bring real beer from Burton, in the Mid, Lands.

Cornish pasties are OK but Devon ones are better, I have an excellent source of them in town!

Devon pastie scum!

I'll be the judge of that (if you all bring some).

I'll do my best to attend. Could do with giving the lancer a good run out. I'll mark it in my calendar.

This could be a go for me. Especially if I can combine it with a few days on narrow gauge trains. I love that run down from Chester to Tywyn, via Bala, Dolgellau and Cader Idris by Talyllyn lake :)

Once did it early morning in a 1967 Humber Sceptre, 1725cc with overdrive and a special stainless exhaust. Mmm.

I'd very much like to come to this too. It's reasonably close to me (certainly compared to the last one anyway) so I'll have to bring whichever shite seems to be capable of making the trip.

400 miles in a car from ke(u)nt?

try 150 in one go on a c50

ffs

:P

That's nowt, self and a mate once went over to Blackpool for a day me on my NSU Quickly and him on his Tomos, from Knaresborough. I can confirm pedal assistance was required on the NSU ;)

I've just realised for the event you're pretty well situated to a friend of mine who lives somewhere near New Cross.

I am up for a train ride, still not sure which car as there was talk about how many Maserati Biturbos we can gather in one place

Welsh Shitefest is not too far out of when the red Princess should be changing hands and the 6 also being moved from the Mr Duke residence.  Providing Phil can make it up to Wales and both the Princess and the 6 are road ready there could be some fun to be had there.  Of course I've not discussed this idea with either of them before posting it out loud to the whole of Autoshite.

Also square sausage is vile.  I'll have a black pudding, bacon and brown sauce cob instead.

I can provide details of a very pretty route that avoids Newtown. It does go through Kidderminster instead though...

Pretty and Kidderminster.....nope. Not now, not ever.

I guess Bewdley* is on the way for some of you lot though...convoi exceptionelle !

A Hyundai Stellar is already looking fairly certain. One of the earliest in the UK!

Yes. It will be motivation to get it at least mobile again (after 10 years off the road) although I'll almost certainly have to bring it on a trailer. Which begs the question of what should I bring as the tow vehicle? Discovery V8 slush box; or a mid engined, 6 pot, turbocharged two-seater? Both of which would fit in quite well with the rest of the meet I think.

I'm also now planning a hilarious* game to play on Saturday night. Really must get around to planning the scenic drive too. I'm going to scale back the driving a bit, so we don't end up with folk turning up and wondering where everyone has gone.

Incidentally, the venue features heavily in this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03pn6hg/Hinterland_Hinterland_Episode_1/

It's much nicer in real life!

EDIT - I would ask that folk don't promote this event elsewhere, like on Facebook. This is a private party for Autoshite folk.

Posted

Thinking about the driving route on Saturday, how about a couple of shortish runs, returning back to base in between to collect any late comers?

Posted

Either that or one Saturday and another on Sunday, so those who need to scarper home can go, but others can stay a bit longer.

Posted

I think on the Sunday most will probably be thinking about scarpering home, as it'll take a while just to exit Wales

Does that include the Autoshite Facebook group? I don't know how much of a crossover there is between the two.

Posted

Yeah, I'd prefer it isn't mentioned there. I'm not a member of it due to the large number of twats who blather on about sod all to do with old shite, or who enjoy trolling it up. Not ideal guest material.

Posted

Ah, I had noticed the large number of FB members in those categories and it had actually put me off spending much time on here (hence my post count!) I'm looking forward to this event even more now :-D Also the distance helps, having never ever been to a car meet that was less than a 250 mile round trip.

Posted

Put me on the list for this mate all being well, I'll try and bring something more interesting than the Alfa :-D

Posted

Is there a general plan in terms of when peoiple are going to roll up? The mention of it being a 2 nighter make be assume arrive late fri- overnight,  sat - overnight, then pootle back later on sunday?

I'm aiming to bring the 504 estate

Posted

All being well, DW, I shall bring the Mercedes.  Fear not, though - I promise to take it away again...  :D

Paging the AS Midlands Massiv... do we got us a convoy?

FPB7: shotgun seat in the Merc is yours (bring tools!)

I'd be up for convoying if you go through North Derbyshire/South Yorkshire.  Shan't be there for the full two day experience, it'll be a daytrip thing for me.

How about a meet up on the southbound Frankley services (just south of M5 junction 3) and cut across on the A443 from Droitwich (M5 junction 5)?

It avoids all the crappy urban roads through Wolves or Kiddy

The A4112 from Tenbury to Leominster is well worth the crack, then join up with the A44

I think it's a bit early to start talking about convoy's. Personally I don't know what day/time I'll be leaving or what car I'll be taking.

I may be up for joining a convoy nearer the time as I will be crossing most of the Midlands.
