This is all jolly exciting. You lot seem more prepared than I am. I'm currently at a holiday house in the village with my sister-in-law and family. They head back home tomorrow, and I swap a holiday home in my village for a tent in my village. Must remember the tea making facilities tomorrow. And the tent.

Has anyone checked oil/water/etc? I dispensed with all that on the basis that it's not used any in the time I've owned it, so I bought a rubber plant for the dashboard instead.

but an autoshite satnav (mouldy road atlas) has found its way into the inside pocket

i decided i couldnt be arsed with the sat nav too and have a 15 year old tuffmap :D

wing it ftw

I might top the Rover's oil up, if nothing else it should add plenty of extra showroom/field appeal.

The golden nugget has had some love from the fil cos I was too busy . Leaving half 10 ish with my father. Slightly worrying atf leak on the Saab. Oh well if it breaks its aa to the bridge and onwards in dad's bx

I have a lift to Wales sorted with Red5,  a backup lift with Sloth in a bowl if Red5 can't make it, a tent, a huge pile of Garycox's mags, sleeping bag a lift north with KruJoe and a backup lift with Will if Joe can't for whatever reason and a car sorted to drive back home in WCPGW?

All this because the Disco is leaking several flavours of oil at an alarming rate.

Sounds like a great weekend! Will be listening out tomorrow for Sally Traffic commenting on the amount of old Volvos heading down the M6

I'll bring wood, dad sells logs

Cheers, that makes more sense I guess seeing as we may be elsewhere Saturday night. Might stick a few in just in case though - I'll probably be splitting a few tomorrow so they can dry out more over the weekend.

Vulgalour, I'll raise an entire bottle!

Errrrrrrrrrr ? 5?

Love those . Sooooo much better than the Honda and Suzuki equivalents

Shame you can't get tomorrow of work Dave, you could have came up with me if you wanted.

Cheers Trigz.  It's one of those annoying situations where by the time I found out I could have had the time off, it was too late to sort anything out.  Wouldn't have minded a ride over in the Acclaim (although with a bootful of mags fitting me and my stuff in might have been a bit of a squeeze).  I'd have had limited options for getting there myself anyway - I only have four fully road legal cars at the moment, of which the Carina has a terminally ill PAS pump, and the Delica is too thirsty, the LNA too cramped and the Rover too slow to be a realistic prospect for driving 500 miles in a weekend.

Oh well.  Maybe Shitefest 2015 won't be at the other end of the country from us...

To be fair, the design is about 15 years newer than the Honda and Suzuki equivalents...

Wuv - suggest you and Trig organise Shitefest '15. Then you definitely won't have to travel far. ;-)

Man who chops his own firewood gets warm twice !

Very warm in my case, as it's a nightmare to split.

As Dollywobbler can testify!

Just got back from the local pez station. Lobbed in 70 quids worth, checked the tyre pressures, then through the car wash. Sorted! Tempted to throw a sickie and come up tomorrow instead....

What's with all this washing the car bollocks?

Softies.

None of my cars have been washed. A bird has shat big time on the BX. I might actually wash it. Or is it patina?

Posted

Depends on the bird, probably. There's definitely a sexist joke to be had here somewhere.

Don't wash it Wobbler!

I want to see if anyone has collected more bird muck than Will's Samara. It has gone beyond a joke now, he refuses even to turn on his wipers for fear of losing some of it.

Oh, forgot to say, I'll have a stove and kettle aboard, so bring your own mug and spoon guys, I can donate:
coffee (intant)
tea (unbranded pov-spec teabags)
sugar (lumpy, resembles used cat litter)
milk (slightly* curdled)

DW, is there water available on / near the field of dreams?

Oh no, don't tell my brother. He becomes rather silly in the presence of actual flames.

Fire Yo!

To be honest, I haven't done much about organising the fire bit. Mr The Cat was talking about bringing wood at some point, but he's not turning up until Saturday. Fortunately, it is rather unsettlingly mild at the moment. Scorchio!

I am more than willing to bring with me a burnt out 14 inch Pugrot Steelie and a couple concrete blocks to make a makeshift camp fire in.

It certainly was warm enough to melt underseal and oil together to pour it into my sills.

I will even be attending with Veg oil as an accelerant, for the authentic money pinching shiters' odour.

Skizzer, me and you are going to be propper bro's.

I actually cleaned my grubby purple 'Morrisons Cheapo Furniture Polish' hubcap today, but only to place it in juxtaposition against the rest of the car.

It now shines like a purple beacon of anti-communist hope against the drab maroon steppe of soviet oppresion.

I felt slightly ill earlier when I felt the need to pour ACTUAL SCREENWASH into the speedwagon. I felt I was cheating a bit.

I even purposefully park it under the rook's nests at work so I can win the AS patina award.

I won't be washing the car either. I'm setting off in 7 minutes to make the 385.8 mile journey, will that make me the furthest travelled?

Just arrived at Happendon to wait for the rest of Scotoshite. It's shut...
