After discussions it seems the Scottish contingent will arrive Friday lunchtime / afternoon and leave on Monday morning

I'm in.

Having missed the previous 'fests, I definitely do not want to miss another. I'm hoping to come down on the Saturday morning and go back on Sat. night after the fire museum. I do not wish to sleep in the car but at least this one has reclining seats if I'm too shattered to drive home at 11pm+.

Quick and important question. Does anyone have a gazebo or party tent? I'm slightly concerned that we don't have anywhere to hide if the weather turns grim. Well, ok, we could hide in the hotel, but it'd be better (more miserable) to sit under a thin sheet of plastic looking at our soggy cars.

Not that it will rain of course!

I'll be bringing the Party BusTM which does have an awning rail...think I may have even got an awning from an old caravan although whether it a) fits and b ) is any good are completely unknown!

If we get stuck I could probably borrow a gazebo of some sort from work.

As it is we have a 5m bell tent that someone has given us because it's covered in mildew.  I'll bring it if

a,  I can clean it up from it's bio hazard state enough to want to sleep in it

and b, it fits in the car that I want to bring.

I'm getting quite excited by all this.

Beer, crap old cars and a bunch of nutters. Can't wait!

Exchanged my Halfords vouchers for a mummy shaped sleeping bag in colours which I feel are best described as VIVID.

Clearly, a restful nights sleep will follow.

I can recommend buying one of these stoves.

You see them with various branding all over the place for £10-£15 and they are as good as a house cooker, self-igniting too. The gas canisters can be had from £1 (usually in a multipack) to £2ish each and you'd probably get the whole Shitefest weekend out of one.

Got one already as myself and cms206 had to provide our own catering at Malhamfest

I disagree, had many of those over the years, they are ok but fail with alarming regularity.

This year, I'm playing with one of these...

Same cheap fuel, but a slim chance it might last a bit longer.

Its clearly a cheap Chinese copy of something far better so instant camping shite!

A guy had one of those on a trip round Europe in 2012. I remember vividly the hilarity* which ensued when he made an early morning brew on the parcel shelf of his car. It may just have been operator error meaning the gas cannister wasn't fully on, but the whole thing went up and the car was only saved by ripping the shelf out and onto the grass...

And anyway, this is clearly the preferable way to cook things!

We don't need a gazebo if MatCat is bringing a VW LT, all of Shitefest can fit in an LT easily as they have much the same storage properties and styling queues as a TARDIS.

I've just looked into this, if I were to bring BTW back to the boil as it were, I still think 5 hours solid driving in car that hasn't seen the road in 7 years might be pushing my luck a little too far.

... is bringing a VW LT, all of Shitefest can fit in an LT easily.....

A common misconception, don't forget that the LT is already half full of cupboards, cooker and even the legendary kitchen sink, leaving precious little room for a couple of occupants, never mind all of his virtual friends!

I'd love to bring my l300 van with a mattress but think the lancer will be the transport of choice. Just need to sort some cooking facilities !

Just heard about this after being away from AS for a while, count me in! I will let the side down I'm afraid as will be turning up in a modern car. However it is a Jaguar, so something may stop working and everybody can stare at the black engine cover whilst I call the RAC.

There's a pub quiz at the hotel on the Friday night. Would folk be interested in attending this? No worries if not. Kicks off at 9pm-ish.

Scotland should be there in time and I certainly love a good pub quiz.

Now I know there's a pub quiz i'm half tempted to take the Friday off work and come up a day earlier!

I don't frequent a bizarre beige forum in order to make a tit of myself with a lack of knowledge of horseracing/canals/roadsigns at a pub I've never previously visited in some strange other county/country.

It's better to make a tit of yourself there then it is at your local, I have a nice collection of wooden spoons from my local pub quiz.

I was in Wales day, forgot how incredible the roads are for driving. Beautiful sunny morning then when we reached our dstination, this happened:

Weird

Really looking forward to this, especially since finding out it's only an optimistic 4hrs 10 mins to get there according to Google Maps.  Will most likely be there on the Saturday.

I think there's due to be a sizeable south west contingent, we'll have to try and arrive together in a glorious procession.

Sorted that for you

Given that philibusmo was rumoured to be bringing the Y10 we can at least be sure that the only Lancia attending won't be rusty!
