Private Life of the Ford Cortina

I've just uploaded a number of adverts for the MK3 Cortina and part of a promotional video which i think is great, 6 children on the back seat, they didn't care about children's safety so much back then!

Jackie Stewart wasn't into kids safety much either!

Holy thread etc blah.

This is now on iPlayer under the Arena@50 thread. What a lovely piece of tv and a great strand of documentaries.

I’ve spent the last hour contemplating:

1- How can someone as eloquent as the chap with the blue Cortina actually be @tooSavvy

2- Was his wife wearing a bra? It’s touch and go.

3- Did anyone find Alexei Sayle funny? I know it’s easy to apply modern standards to old material, but it’s neither clever or silly. Just strikes me as someone trying hard to be counter-culture and edgy. Many of his contemporaries (Young Ones etc) were very funny. He just leaves me stone cold.

Cheers for that, must have seen it in the 90s at some point but will love to watch it again.

Just advised the wife that I had got something great for us to watch.

She's delighted*.

I heard him on radio 4 recently. Id have agreed with you before but after that yes he is funny.

Edit

Bornite can you make give easy pointers for a luddite to find it? Id really like to give it a watch.

83ish I think, remember watching it at the time I managed to get hold of a gen BBC copy in the early 90s from them. Which is in my archive.

Yeah, made 83 but I was only 5 years old so can't have watched it at the time. It must have been repeated at some point in the 90s because I definitely remember watching it at home as a teenager.

He's briefly in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Quite a car enthusiast - used to do motoring reviews for the papers.

I watched it again today too, can’t believe that’s @tooSavvy😆

Whats really freaked me out is that, in real life, Savv talks proper english. I mean like a shit load better than me!

I'm pretty sure that Alan Lambert had a V8 Sierra in the 90s, seem to recall reading about it in Street Machine.

4- Jon Pertwee voice over ? (1970's Ford Cortina Mk3 advert)

Watched this last night thanks to this thread and very much enjoyed it. I'm slightly too young to remember Cortinas so this helped explain some of the mystique.
