pandamonium Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 What a day! Good start - missed the bus!Got the next one thoughOn the train Windy country roads on the way back!Back homeSpot the difference! It's not all pretty though
Spiny Norman Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Looks ace! I know you've got the wheels advertised for sale but I think they look really good on the car, very period late 80s.
pandamonium Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 That looks ace! Hope it stays standard! ^^^^^This! Well, I've put the standard wheels back on, so it is now even more standard than when I got it!
Angrydicky Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 That looks great! Look forward to seeing it in the flesh.
Shep Shepherd Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 That's a car which deserves nothing less but to stay standard - I look forward to seeing it on the A127 in Rayleigh when I'm working days
pandamonium Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 Oh, it will be staying standard, at least for a while. Got plenty of other things to worry about first!! This was the main fuel pipe!! New pipe added, plus inline filter
eddyramrod Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 that is one gorgeous motor You know, it isn't that long ago that the only person even possibly likely to say things like that about a Riva, was me. I'm so glad they've bounced off the bottom of the scrap pile and are now being appreciated, even if it is only by a bunch of mad pervs such as Shiters. See, all these years, I wasn't as wrong as everybody said!

See, all these years, I wasn't as wrong as everybody said! I have really liked them for many years, as well as a lot of other unloved cars that no one liked, my mates always thought I was crazy for liking and getting buzzed up about "shitboxes" when most of them were into saxo/corsa/any generic popular chav hatch
Split_Pin Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 That's a cracking specimen there do like. The wheels remind me of the sort available in this mad brochure thing I had as a nipper, where each car had holes cut where the wheels should be and you laid it over the second brochure where all the wheel options were aligned so you could see them on the car. The rust on the wings kind of deserves to stay there as that's how everyone remembers the cars! Hope you enjoy it!
purplebargeken Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Please keep the alloys on the Riva, they really looked in keeping with the car, very 'period'.
explosive-cabbage Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Looks nice!!! Some lad in PC was making a nice job of the front wings on his I noted (while I was reading the mag in the co-op this week) Did exactly the same yesterday!

Driving down the M6 last week with a friend, we stopped at Hilton Park. "Are we visiting the library?" he said; "Eh?" I replied. Cue a browse through the magazine racks !
pandamonium Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Well, I ignored all advice and sold the alloys. They were more suited to the older models of Lada, such as the 1600ES I got £150 for them, so I'd call that a result!Popped the old steels on, but they're a bit scruffy. So as is my tradition, searched through my wheel trim stash! That'll do for now. Quick shot of the gorgeous interior!
Mr_Bo11ox Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Good work on getting 150 for those old wheels, they were bloody awful I reckon it looks best on the scabby steels, thats the natural Lada look.
garethj Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Was that photo of the speedometer really showing 75mph? You sir, are even more of a hero!
