Stator was waiting for me when I got in at 16:40.

Bike was running with working charging by 18:20.

Wazza a ‘ busa like?

 

I’ve a Blackbird ( sadly not yet we’ll enough to ride it - so currently on a lowered zzr1100.

 

Looking to upgrade, when the legs strong enough, so would welcome thoughts.

Fast, heavy, underbraked, cramped and not worth the upgrade in my opinion, I've owned a gen 1 busa and ridden plenty of BBirds, the Honda is a better bike in my opinion, sure its not as fast, but how much more do you need? a ZZR14 however is a very different beast if the budget allows :)

Test rode to work, even with a wet road covered in diesel it was good to be back on it.

Monday this was parked outside Rolls-Royce Heritage in Derby.  Rare or common?

TU250 rareish at the time as they were aimed at the commuter market, not being learner legal this limited the selling ability new. Any used ones coming in the shop used to sell within days though.

Could they work out why it had failed last time and do anything to prevent it?

 

Did your recovery every get back to you about the faff you had?

Think they're a GN250 from ancient times with a retro-esq paint job and seat-other than that identical.

Brakes are a bit wooden - braided hoses help. Yes its heavy and bloody long - so it does'nt turn like a sports bike.

Is that NC cheap enough?

 

I bought my X privately [no cats], with full luggage and quite a few tasteful mods and >11000miles for £2,750.

 

I'd say worth a punt at £2k, but not more as there are loads out there.

I've been thinking about a 'busa, but I used to have a ZZR1400 and found that too barge-like and underbraked; I was hoping the Suzuki would be a bit more sporty?  Was heavy on the wrists too.

It's common for bikes that are laid up and/or left standing for months or more to suffer seal failure on forks because the stanchions dry out and when finally used, the friction causes the seals to leak. Also brakes start to bind. Bikes hate not being used. Laying them up properly is a bit of an art in itself.

Any tips to avoid seal failure, wipe with oily rag in Nov?

^ seems sensible to me to wipe them over with fork-oil ..or would one of the non-rubber-perishing greases not be better (something like silicon grease) ?

 

Each of my bikes have fork gaiters (two have rubber, the others are sunbeams with their steel sliders) and I've never noted seal failure as a problem. Nor have I noted it with rear shock absorbers.

ACF-50? it's spray on & you cover everything with it, it forms a coating to protect from rot so I assume is a bit slimey.

Give them a bounce occasionally?

 

Normally the seals would be lubricated by the oil they're keeping in.

Well I had my 86 GSX-R 750 finally UK registered this week! Only took me 17 years to change from the Hong Kong plate! ????

Loved my GSX-R-the F model though, with the holed rather than slotted exhaust shield. Managed to get it to 180,000 miles, although the last 10,000 or so saw regular electrical issues due to corroded connection connector blocks and hardened wires. Hoped to get it to 200,000 miles but killed by a u-turning Transit.

 

Bought an H model to replace it, but it felt "wrong" and sold after the second commute into the office, so 120 miles. Never owned a bike I wanted to use (rather than buy it to sell it) sold after so little mileage. Learnt a lesson in that some things just cannot be replaced.

Mine isn't quite so standard but I really didn't like the standard riding position after about 20~30 minutes and bought it with the intention of putting upright bars on from day one.

 

When I bought mine, my mate Carl had the identical bike to yours. He had the F and I had the G.

A big traily with its documents go from £700 up to a couple of grand,depending on condition

No documents are cheaper but would be a pain to ship out unless you strip it 1st

I got lucky with the Tenere and bagged it for £500 but it's mechanically tired.

Will use it for the rest of the year then rebuild it once winter sets in

How much is something like that over there? Apologies if you've already said and I missed it.

Not as cheap as I had hoped, Italy is still the place to go apparently, but the riding looks better in Andy18s neck of the woods.

I use a quad bike trailer swivel on my bike trailer, so it stays upright when I lean!

 

Mind you, that trailer doesn’t look too heavy!
