I live 20 miles away, how much will you knock off??

GLWTS, I would have thought anyone looking for a cheap people carrier would snap that up, loads of car for the money.

Posted

Isn't this the sort of thing that Mr eddyramrod was looking for - high, automatic?

Posted

Proper tough old bus these, and if you have kids the middle row captains chairs prevent a lot of arguments! Seats out, these make huge van too. GLWTS Cavette.

Not wanting to shove my two'penneth in on behalf of someone I haven't met (yet) I think Mr Ramrod strongly prefers petrol engines to heavy oil.

Now reduced to £595 Ono. Please someone save me from chinless wonders on Bumtree. I'd prefer a straight sale but would consider something cheap in p/x.

How much is the tax on these? Veg friendly?

Is it a manual and is it taxed :)

This is the car tax details for it. It missed out on the pre March 2001 cheaper tax banding by 1 month.

Bum! Tax exemption works on date of manufacture, maybe thats the case here too?

Posted

Probably not sadly. I am however prepared to knock the difference in (6 months tax) off the asking price, so about £30-£40 or wotevs. There's about £25 of diesel in it too I think, no idea if veg friendly or not sorry but will find out on the Internet later.

According to someone on World Sea Fishing.com (yes, really) these can run on bum rape seed oil, which is nice.

I don't recall ever seeing a Kia Sodomy dizzler for sale this cheap before. Lob it on Scumtree for £800 and give it a week to see what happens.

Posted

I've lobbed it on, given it three days and re-discovered that 99% of Gumtree advert enquiries for cheap cars come from the sort of jelly knobbed mongs who would ask you for fifty quid if the car was free.

Posted

Mrs Lankytim is interested but we are going to discuss it "properly" tonight. It will be replacing our Astra if you are interested in some sort of deal. 1.6 8v estate. 123k odd

Posted

Chuck it on Lancashire/Manchester Gumtree. More of a market for them there and they'll travel for the right car.

Posted

Definately, Tim!

Warren: I'm going to be careful how I word this but the seemed target audience for this car are the ones who are being a pain on the phone. I'm getting about 5 calls a day over it, 99% are asking for my lowest price so I'm just sort of turning the tables on them.

Oh aye, had about 4 calls from witheld numbers so just pressed the red button and didn't answer them. It's worked because I've heard the first few seconds of irate 'why won't you answer' types, and then I just deleted their messages before listening to the rest!

Oh I have of course had the obligatory 'I want a discount because I live 180 miles away' dickhead. I told him to either find a car nearer to home or turn up with my asking price. Then I hung up.

I’m enjoying these news updates about the sale, I imagine a big, cheap, up + running diesel people carrier has to be the number one ‘product’ for attracting penniless fuckwits, possibly even more so than a transit van or a spaxo. HI M8, WHATS UR BEST PRICE FOR CHEAP? MEH, TOO MUCH, I GIVE YOU HALF

Posted

Just got home, expecting three calls this evening about it but I just cannot face more knobheads so I've turned my phone off.

One bloke came to look when I was at work and sounded ok but wanted a massive discount because there is a dent on it (which I told him about) some minor scuffs (which I told him about) and the fact there's no tax, which oddly enough I told him about. I worry about people who worry about dents on a 12 year old car and a people carrier at that. He muttered something about having to have the cosmetics sorted, but really why bother?

Oh another bloke mid-morning starts telling me all kinds of rubbish, I think he just Google-d some facts about 1930s Austin Chummys and made it up about Kias. Anyhow a few sentences in I told him I didn't have a clue what he was on about, but if he was going to start bullshitting he was wasting his time because while I may be a knobhead, I'm not a knobhead who knows absolutely nothing about cars.

This, I have to say, is why I no longer sell cars for fun.

Would a motorbike fit in the back of one of these? stoopid question i know

Posted

I'd have thought so, you'd have to launch most of the back seats though I reckon. In the unlikely event I get a chance I'll measure the back and see how long it is to the front seats.

Posted

I'm pretty sure I had a sheet of 8' x 4' ply in at angle, so seats out a bike should fit with nice sturdy lashing mounts (the seat holders) already in the floor.

Posted

Missed two calls from someone earlier. Sent them a text saying 'sorry I missed your call, I'm at work and can't speak, please text back do not ring'.

8 calls later (every one I just pressed the red button without answering) and the same person is ringing again!

Welcome to the world of selling older cars.... 99% mongs, 0.9% pond life, 0.1% genuine buyers. If life had a firewall/antimong filter for sale it would be sold out on here!

:D

I hereby declare a tie for pole position! :D Both gentlemen are correct. High and automatic, yes, good price, even a good colour, there's so much in favour, and I would unhesitatingly buy from Cavcraft, possibly the most trusted used-car emporium this side of Sam Glover.... but as brilliantly pointed out by the good doctor, precisely the wrong engine. Could only be more wrong if it was made by VW. Never mind, it's a bus, there'll be another one along in a bit, won't there?

I managed to shoehorn a CBR600 in the back of an Espace once - Sedona is bigger, so shouldn't be a problem.

Posted

Nine missed calls (from same number) in a row, the longest break between them being about 8 pissing seconds. Why do people do this? If I didn't answer the first time I'm not fucking likely to answer again 2 seconds later, am I?

Oh well, they've now sent a text asking a question I've already answered twice on the advert so that's them out of the running for it now, because even if they came down here right now with £300 more than the asking price they can go home with their cash intact.

Posted

I'm a bit out of date on prices of cheap stuff, but wouldn't this easily make £600 at an auction? Thought these were pretty sellable?

Posted

It may head that way to be honest, though an internet auction site will probably be first. Reluctantly so, it must be said. I think it's too cheap, as daft as that sounds, so either attracts suspicion or the sort of moron who think they're entitled to a massive discount because they sent two text messages in the same day about it.

My local "kerbside autos" guy has a real shonky looking one of these outside his gaff for the princely sum of £995  , so Billy's one looks like a proper bargainous old bus
