First FSO purchase of 2013

We can proudly announce we have just jointly purchased between 4 of us in the FSO club a 125p :D

Sambas and I were sober last night but Benno and Richieg were several sheets to the wind so were easily persuaded that this was a good idea. I'll text Ben later this morning just to remind him what he has jointly bought

Another pic. I don't know why but the pics I post end up to big and the right side is missing?. Maybe that's more for the stupid question section of the forum

Wow! Nice buy. 8) I think that inner emotion I am experiencing is jealously. :x:wink:

I thought with the extra chromework it must be an early 80s model. Is that a 1300cc engine or a 1500cc one?

Posted

It's an '82 on a Y. 1500. Being a pre 1984 it has the old 4 speed box and earlier engine with timing chain.

Fair play to you, it looks pretty terminal. Are you going to restore it?

Posted

Oh yes, it'll be restored. It would have to be pretty bad for me to declare it terminal. Look at my Caro truck

Yes we are due to collect it on 7th Feb. He has about 6 cars in front of it on his drive at the moment in various states of disrepair to move and I will transport it up to Edds (SambaS) as he is the only one with a space for it at the moment and we'll start sorting it out from there.

What a start to 2013!

This is going to be a challenge and I'll look forward to updates! Fantastic! I remember the business about the timing chain being changed on the later ones to a belt that required regular changing. That belt was a b2£$%^d to change, as you needed an ENORMOUS spanner to get the crankcase bolt off. I never understood why they'd fit a timing belt, giving smoother & quieter running, yet leave the engine as OHV; the worse of both worlds!

Holy Cow. Well done lads.

I suspect there is a bigger back story to the aquisition of this one. I look forward to the updates.

Cheers

Also I'm off in an hour to collect 2 x fso 125p repair manuals and a polonez manual I've just bought :D

Does this mean you have taken the crown of first shite bought in 2013? Well done and happy new shite

Whats in front of it? Is it a Consul Capri?

Edit - No it isn't stacked lights.

Oh well done Steve! Top work already, and restoring that is going to be a shining example of dedication to the cause of Autoshite. Can't have too many FSOs on the roads :)

Posted
One of these isn't it?

Thanks. I did google that but the ones I noticed were the ones with the cluster lights (despite that one being first on the list).

Posted

WIN! That looks dreadful. Well done! I always preferred these to the Lada version.

Posted

I did forget to add what an utterly miserable looking purchase that looks. Well done.

When not working on cars what do you do in your spare time? Stub fags out on your balls and watch the same episode of songs of praise over and over and over again? They are the only 2 things I can think of that would be more painful and boring as driving a fleet of FSO's.

Singer Vogues had the separate rear lights. Super Minxes and Sceptres had the lozenge shape ones (Shared with Alpines)

Once again, a brave purchase.

After a shitload of work you will have something that most people would run a mile from .... Shite legends.

I expect to see pictures of richieg washing polishing before any thoughts of starting welding :)

That is an awesome buy Steve.

Craig, you know him too well! :D

We have been looking at pictures of a caro truck in north lincolnshire today too. We are just waiting for the owner to run out of whatever he is smoking or inhaling so he can come up with a more sensible price for us to buy it for than he has quoted at the moment. It has been in a grass verge since 2002, so you can imagine the condition. It's pretty much as bad as the one I'm restoring presently.
