The_Equalizer Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 I really enjoy this thread so thought I would add my own effort. I have probably done about 300 miles in nine years of Jag ownership - I really ought to pull my finger out and get a new ticket. However, there is plenty of pleasure in just sitting in the thing, with its smell of old car leather and the spectral green glow from the dash. Zelandeth, Shite Ron, HMC and 16 others 19

willswitchengage Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Rover 200 diesel. Nice and simple with a sensible typeface like all Japanese cars of the era (I assume the dash was a Honda part). Why do so many new cars share a printing press with tacky primary school literature? There is a light leak in here somewhere though which leads to the red background hue and a slight cheapness feel. MJK 24 Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 I love red illumination. Why Audi and BMW dropped it is beyond me. BMW was a little more orange I guess. Alusilber 1

Don't these use a combination of white backlighting for the dial faces but a red front light for the pointers? So the red tinted light on the front of the panel is intentional...
Cord Fourteener Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Mondeo mk3. It's not too ugly. The camera does a really good job of increasing the brightness and saturation of the image! privatewire and crad 2
PhilA Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Not too bad for a modern. The center display can be made a lot less cluttered too. Speedometer is useless, the needle is over 5mph wide... It's accurate to look at to the nearest ten, which would get you stopped in a lot of places. Handily they duplicate it at the top of the screen, defeats the purpose. Phil

Sham Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 2010 Skoda Octavia. Simple and easy to read. 2019 Suzuki Vitara. The main dash is really clear, but the buttons are small font and the red I find hard to focus on at night. 2011 Berlingo van. It's OK, not great but clear enough. juular, crad, willswitchengage and 1 other 4

C- must do better (led bulbs me thinks) The dash light can be dimmed, think you turn the headlight switch end to do it. Unsure if LEDs can be dimmed? Dunno. Always loved the 80s green 😂
MJK 24 Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 The Marquis would look a lot better with the red warning lights out. Pretty please!
Zelandeth Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Very nice... though that stereo needs to be dealt with. One of the main reasons for choosing the one I put in my last Saab was that it allowed you to dial in pretty much any colour so it was possible to almost perfectly match it to the dash illumination colour. The warning light style there is pretty funky, can't recall seeing that style on anything else. Though Jag did use a similar idea with a lit border around a lit symbol in the late 70s/early 80s...was on a black field though so you couldn't see the symbol unless lit. mat_the_cat 1

Steve79 Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Nope, no coolant gauge, just a check engine light which covers low oil/coolant. Its up to the driver to lift the bonnet/hood to find out which.
