cros Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Very rubbish pictures of my dash but its the best I can do as I've bin poorly. My Mrs had to drive the Morris Commercial home as I got the flu when working 140 miles away from home. We took 3 and a half hours which isn't too shabby considering the thing is 82 years old. Tried a pic when it was fully dark but there's just one bulb to illuminate everything so late afternoon will have to do.Here you can see Mr Gist has us beat, but many slower lorries were overtaken, so it eased the nastiness of being a bit achy when you just want to go to bed and die. The massif speedo reads right but the fashionable white oil gauge broke just after the war, must put it on my list. Ammeter waggles about vaguely, and the handbrake obscures the temp gauge. mouseflakes Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Justy J12 action shots (ok, so they're all at 2 MPH).. ...approaching a corner - let's get the main beam on so I can see the curbs... ...whoa, entered the corner a bit too quick - note how the dashboard warns that I'm now experiencing four-wheel drift... captain_70s Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 The Civic has a really nice looking dash, very easy to read and pleasing to the eye. The Dolomite 1850HL features period charm but this photo flatters it, the lights aren't as bright in person and the heater control aren't lit either making adjustments a chore. Especially as the solitary interior night is located on the roof above the front passenger seat which is hard to reach as the driver. The 1300 features the same lighting but with less dials. warren t claim, Lacquer Peel, Cheggers and 2 others 5
SiC Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I have to admit, I do love the retro feel of the warm glow from a vacuum fluorescent display. One of my (only) favourite things on the Scenic. Magnificent Rustbucket, mat_the_cat and mouseflakes 3

Matt Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Has anyone had a go at changing the colour of backlit gauges before? I was looking at my photo and comment about how I dislike the colour which got me thinking about what I would prefer. I'm thinking that changing the bulbs to white then using strategically placed pieces of coloured acetate should give the desired effect. Stock: Idea: chodweaver and Craig the Princess 2
Forty-two Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Back from taking the old mans 306derv out for an italian tuneup it. Clock backlight out, and I am guessing there is a bulb behind the fan control. Other than that, all tyres under inflated. Free air at sainsburys, st thomas, exeter. The green mark at 2000rpm would irritate me You can do it, but it's likely to be really hard work depending on how it's currently lit up green. It might be bulbs behind coloured plastic caps in which case you can probably just snap off all the coloured bits and let white shine through. It might be that the green is on the back of the dials, I've seen someone do that before but it was needles off, dial fronts off, wipe the back with acetone etc. It could be green surface mount LEDs - how good is your soldering? IKEA do a cheap RGB light strip that can output any colour. I wonder if that could be somehow put inside the cluster pack to have different colours. Might be a bit pap at close range though, instead of purple might show up blotchy red and blue.
noseypoke Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Is it just me or does that speedo look very modern?DAKOTA DIGITAL??

I reckon it's just generic little bulbs. While the car might be from 2002 the technology in it is essentially from 1989 or so. I swapped the analogue clock in my old '90 Polo for a tachometer which included taking the entire assembly apart. I can't see the one in this car being as complicated as that. Maybe I'll just grab used one like I said and tear it apart. Will finish silver Swift first though.
Landy Mann Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 The 214 at night, with the new radio fitted, now in need of another dash bulb and a generic clock for the console.
