Hope things start looking up soon, the Wartburg is an incredibly rare beast now but I remember them being quite common when I was a kid in the '70s.

Do you have a list to browse? I narrowly missed a Porsche 924 on ebay so by bidding finger is itchy

Your wife has excellent taste, but I'm after a manual gearbox. The 2 litre is for winners as you know :D

Well its been a while -mainly because cold weather & ill health stopped play. Its just about warm enough now, so:-

Collected this today. Owned by one family from new, badly restored 6 years ago, and laid up 5 yrs back when the owner died. His wife has finally decided to let it go -to a worthy owner. I'll recommision it quickly then decide its future.

Wuz will recgonise the towcar! Doing excellent service -thanks mate!

Been running about in this little honey. Thanks to an August member of this very forum, I was on this as soon as it was mentioned. Owned by Clergy at Westminster Abbey, then sold to a North London Nunnery (from whence I A-framed it away) it needed very little for a ticket. It is like new, inside & out -and a real treasure. It will NOT be modified from standard.

This little 'blessit' has been plaguing me for some time. Off road since 79, I bought it several years back with a dead engine, was then mugged by an 850 specialist, I was struggling to get this running. A hero on FMC has stepped in to lend me a reliable 'cooker', whilst he rebuilds mine -so its now back on the street, and loads of fun. I've swopped the seats out for X1/9 versions (more support) and have plans for larger brakes, but other than that -near boggers. Midway thru snagging -almost beginning to trust it -a little!

Having sold the V6 turbo, we decided to get this out. Clearly much loved all its life, its previous owner had brake issues which he couldnt resolve. A little detective work had them swiftly sorted and a simple recommission was in order. Its a nice drive- and SWMBO actually likes this one! cant be all bad! (I still have a Phase 1 V6 to collect -probably quite soon!)

This is nearly sorted now, and a reliable runner (finally) ,after giving in and converting to 12 volt. Its kinda roadlegal (pre MOT) but I've a couple of small jobs left before I'm happy for it to venture forth.Didnt stop me taxing it though- first minute I could! Happy days

And I've agreed to buy this, deposit paid. Having seen my saloon hooning around, an acquaintance tasked me with finding a break (estate) version. I did find one, in Norfolk (about 20 miles from him) but the price was 'too high' -so he elected to ignore me & import this Transfluide, uninspected, from Southern France. Transport alone cost more than I'm paying, now he's realised that he's bitten off more.... So, off road many years, a totally unknown quantity. My guess is a change to a manual box and a brake overhaul will see it as an unreliable runner. Reverse tow on the dolly from Norfolk -thats going to be fun!

Actively negotiating on this. They have always been on my Bucket list -so I'm probably going out on a limb here. Its in Northern(ish) Spain but a helpful Brit has inspected it twice - highlighted some minor issues (which will be rectified prior to euros changing hands) I think tis going to happen. How I get it home is currently uncertain -but thats for sorting once its mine.

Preparing these two to return to the road. The fuego & 21t were temp stored in a friends barn that then burnt down! Doah- have I been there before or what?

We've pulled the Fuego home, & limited rectification is nearly completed. The panel damaged sadly happened in evacuation & all bar the drivers door is now sorted. It'll prob go for its first fail in a couple of weeks. it is a low mileage (proven 29k) 2 litre GTX so quite nice to drive.

I had forgotten how nice the 21turbo is. It'll come back in the next couple of weeks, and needs little for a ticket. Rims have been changed for Silverstones (which i think really suit it) but I need marginally thinner tyres on the front -so the wheels are on/off whilst we experiment. Once I'm happy, I'll book the test & drive it back the long way round to loosen it up. Doubt it needs much.

And starting a full resto on these. The 15 & 17 were both put away when the sills etc became marginal. After plenty of consideration I've decided to sort them both, so they will be started as soon as poss. Current intention is to have them road ready by the Autumn, MOT'd then laid up in prep for next Spring.

15tl (sorry -no pics at pres)

Of course there are plenty of others undergoing maintenance/repairs (like the Bluey SSS that was laid up for minor surgery {-but was robbed blind whilst I was hospitalized}, Gaz sills, J7 clutch, Mk1 Strada welding, Favorit van brakes) but I thought you'd prefer the 'newbies' rather than regular tat. I'm mind Spring changeover- so I've too many out & about right now. That'll settle down shortly -hopefully!

There are a few more , paid but awaiting collection which hopefully will happen soon, as health & weather permits. Lots more A framing this summer!

Still here, still playing. Happy days!

850 WANT.

have you got dirt on the mot man or something - you must get mega discount off him :D

ps the big white thing at hardcores is that on the list anytime soon :D

Posted

Amazing as usual! So glad someone here nabbed that Regatta. There are probably only a few left in the UK in that condition. 8)

Get well soon Nigel, any of these on the "out" list?

Audi 100 Coupe S

Audi 200

Audi 90 quattro

BMW E3 saloon

Hairnet? Who are you to know whats up there? Its the J7 mentioned at the end of the list, simply a clutch linkage issue. its a couple of hours on my back underneath trying to puzzlew the issue. Thats all it needs.

My MOT man -is actually 2. I do get discounted tickets & have regular slots with each -but i dont get any 'favours'. I wouldnt ask/ wouldnt expect. They stand (or fall) on their own merits.

Red Sparrow -ta. Regata was always 'on the list', fits nicely with the range of Stradas -shortly to make appearances.

TagoraSX - sorry mate. With a couple of minor exceptions, no Germans in the sheds! Far too reliable

You had me at the 127. What a fantastic little car, nice work.

Posted

This is pure inspiration! I love that green 127, that's my kind of small hatch, that is. I had an earlier, booted, version many years ago and found it very willing. Also very rusty, but never mind.

Posted

I like the 127 too. 8) The Regata looks alright too. :D

I think I know the renault domaine in Norfolk as I imported it and sold it to a lady from Diss. She has got quite a fregate collection rusting away. It's not a bad one except for the roof damage. I sold it for 2 grand as she was desperate to have it. Then they left it sitting outside which wasn't ideal after it spent most of its life in a barn near Niort. I was a runner with a decent engine out of a fire pump. I quite fancy another but bear in mind they are a heavy car if your going to A frame one

Speechless.

Great to have an update Nigel.

Am a bit shocked to learn that with your legendary collection, you STILL have a bucket list.

Posted

I hate myself for not buying a gorgeous maroon Frégate Domaine (or Manoir?) a few years ago... lovely looking thing.

Great update Nigel (apart from the hospital and geting robbed bit), hard to pick a favourite (except for the Frégates)!

Posted

That is a shitload of bad luck. Sorry to hear of your back woes, I have my own back issues and it ain't nice.

Such a cool collection you have there. So what is actually up for sale and how much?

Ken

I'd love to drive that Renault Siete back for you Mr Bickle! Is it roadworthy??

Posted

Wow, you have been busy! The Pintara looks quite good on those wheels - definitely better than on the black steels. 127 and Regata look sweet too, as does the 21 Turbo - I still sometimes kick myself for selling mine.

So there's a lady in Diss who has a collection of Frégates? Interesting...

Posted

P65 - yep it'll be that one -Marie & Paul D**r. They seemed to think they should always make a profit -even if the condition had badly deteriorated. I tried to buy an Estafette (with driveshaft issues) -price was ridiculous. Quite happy to let me help thewm sort other stuff- a very 'one way' deal. We lost touch.

'Mine' was imported by the seller direct -although he used Shiply to collect/deliver. He's paid a fortune for an unknown dead estate with aTransfluide gearbox. Not even got it running...Cant A frame it -cos of th box so its rear wheel lift on the dolly. Not looking forward to that one.

Skizz- the bucket list just gets longer, and harder to fill!

Volksy -if you're serious, PM me. Roadworthy? Yes. Roadlegal? No, but its only 150 miles to the border! .Meds mean I cant drive far yet so have been looking at all the options..Does look like it'll soon be mine.

Wuz-ta. They're cheap old Mazda rims-kinda suit it. Its been a splendid old tug although incredibly bland. Quite spritely too.

Hi Nigel I know the estafette as I bought it off her. I had an engineering shop repair the driveshaft but ended up selling it before I moved. It seems mrs D is after another fregate garden ornament as she is interested in my diesel. It failed to make its 2k reserve on ebay but she has offered that for it so if anyone wants to save it from sitting on a driveway for the next few years let me know. I would rather it went somewhere that would use it etc but money is money and another hotchkiss is calling me so it has to go

Posted

Hah! Least we'll know where its sitting -if we feel flush!

Catch up next week

Posted

and more importantly, are those three-stud Cosmic Mk2s on the R17??!?

Loving it all, as usual. Can't wait for the Bellel to be out and about.

Posted

Andy -thanks .Not really -this 'update' spreads over several months. I'll be doing much more when health permits.

Gary . Viceroy? Do you mean the white towcar -thats a 2.4 litre Nissan! (Aussie one ,so you might not recgonise it). I have had 2 (white & blue) but their power to weight was inadequate for towcar status.

Scott -yep , fabled larger 3 stud Cosmics. Off currently -for refurb & new tyres. The 15 wears larger 3 stud Amils.
